Stock e46m3 vs the n52 w/n54 manifold 7500rpm dyno from BPC. (M3 on the bottom obviously...)

They have a pretty similar shape if you ask me, especially after 5000 revs.

The N52 is at a 30hp and maybe 25tq defecit but this motor didn’t have MILV’s, BBTB, and maybe a few other tricks. The 3.0l N52 is doing damn good to be so close to the bespoke ITB M division motor that has higher displacement to boot.

Yeah but the BPC car has headers and the M3 has the stock exhaust manifold, right? Just thinking aloud.

Almost done one guys, Tomorrow will be the day. Tough to get the fender to workout, rest worked out well so far! Tried some different combination, and had to remove the brake air duct to get more room, but still not getting fender liner on. Good thing it never rains in Seattle if I go without!

Not sure what the flexible hose is for, black and yellow one, but I know it's crazy tight in fender.

I thought that the silicone hose with the 'dent' in it goes on first. The 'dent' is to squeeze it past the frame rail.
Step 31 instructions. Smooth side towards the tire and 'dented' side towards the radiator/frame rail.

Then after the silicone hose with 'dent' comes the flexible black/yellow hose and then the air filter.

The black/yellow hose can be bent forward about 90* to hide the air filter more behind the bumper.

--Your first picture shows the flexible black/yellow hose connected to the plastic SC intake elbow piece. I believe that is incorrect.

--Your second picture shows the 'dented' silicone hose in position but it looks like you need to rotate it 90* to get the 'dent' facing the frame rail.
--You might even have to flip the 'dented' silicone hose 180*/top to bottom to get it to fit more cleanly and with best frame clearance and no pinching.

--Also then the flexible black/yellow hose attaches to the bottom of the 'dented' silicone hose and then to the air filter
and then bends forward to tuck the air filter up behind the bumper, not hanging down into the fender well.

Ok, thanks I give that I go, but if so missing metal splice silicon to flexible. Much appreciated, but silicon only is what my instructions showed.

Also, missed adding drain hose but since fluid in there and mounted will do in 2500 mikes not to waste fluid! damn

Ok, this is how good as it will get or I cut that fing fender liner... about to test fit. The stabilization bar is not helping me and this was best way it fitted for me and no room for last hose.

Can you trim the fender liner around that hose so you can still use a majority of the liner?

You can maybe get another coupler at PepBoys for the flexible hose or a piece of 3" or 3.5" exhaust pipe. Or SiliconeIntakes.com

The 'dent' is molded into the silicone hose for a reason or it would just be an off the shelf straight smooth silicone tube.

That would let your air filter sit above the fog light and maybe even turned.

Thats strange.
BPC had my "crinkle" hose as the connecting piece between the filter and the hard plastic elbow on top.

Here is an old install pic-

--Notice that the shorter leg of the silicone hose ('ESS Tuning' printed end) is to the left and mounts to the plastic elbow.

--3rd PIC--'Dent' of silicone hose points to the front to give clearance and be able to 'push' the bottom of the silicone hose/air filter forward so the so that the silicone hose and 'dent' are closer to the headlight. This will push the air filter more forward and above your fog light housing.

--It looks like you have different fog light grills and have projector fog lights compared to this older install.

Sorry, I hope this helps. The fender inner lining has to be there and intact.

Thanks Marty et all, you are correct HID 9006, and looks like they cut air duct for brakes in that picture to fit it there. I took different route, not perfect but good enough and really appreciate your help. Took bar out and did this, which bar they also don't seem to have as I can't fit hose like that. Anyways, bar out and panel going back together and finally fits. Warmer yes, but done or I go off a bridge!

Car feels awesome, runs perfect. Breaking-in is 200 Miles I read, meaning u stay under 4K or something and proper warm up?

Time for a beer - long weekend!

P.s Did also modify PS bracket slightly to get some more room, and painted matt black.

Sweet, I really like how that came out and fit without that bar/brace in the way.

That bar/brace was really in the path of where the tubing/air filter needed to go.

What was that bar/brace anyway? Frame to fender support? Noir's chassis doesn't have that bar/brace.
Could it be remade to go around/over/under the air filter?

Bad, Bad bar--

Lol! Yes I was not happy with that PS bar! For now not to worried and will fab up later! Pumped and also happy I got it together with 4 weeks after back surgery and was very impressed with the service I got from ESS in addition to sweet product and never even hesitated a second and ran super smooth right away from first start with the 330 euro 155 Alfa-n tune. Thanks AJ from ESS and TEAM!

Time to celebrate!

I live in FL - and no way would I have run the intake that low, I came in here to suggest running it just how you are now. ESS should find a way to route that near or through the grill area.

Yeah worked out well, and for $35 I think I buy a new air filter since I banged this one up trying a ton of failed "solutions"

Do that and point a cold air feed from the bumper at it. Could use the silicone pipe with an aluminium trumpet in place of the fog light. Then you'd have as much cold air and no risk of water getting into the intake.

Quick question, since I forgot drain hose which I install next oil change - it looks like A-bolt into charger and drain hose looks like female, am I missing a nipple? Just checking what you saw/know so I have parts in hand. Thanks a bunch!

The 2 'gold' color bolts/plugs on top are the fill.

The drain is the plug on the bottom that you can see in this picture peeking thru.
