On top of that you would have to get a tune and it is not clear from the listing whether it includes injectors.

LOL agreed. F*cking G-O-O-N.

“Still in car being hooned on every day. Would remove for $795 discount over new. Just need to add tune for only $795.”

I mean shit: Where else are you gonna find a used supercharger for the cost of a new supercharger? Pretty unique opportunity if you ask me.

Would never buy from someone like that just based on principle alone. I’m not joking about the cost of the tune either… I’ve looked into this before when debating MUCH cheaper used superchargers I’ve stumbled across, and the fact the tune is VIN locked always made it too expensive.

Side note: Anyone know what the deal is with the Defcon 3 warning not to run headers with an N52, especially with boost?

e90yyc I run headers on my setup. The guys who assembled the kit (for whatever reason) just didn't make the tune for cars with headers. Bob @ StageFP got mine squared away, way back when. Just get a tune. Idk what the whole DEFCON thing you are referring to, though…

Ah, good to know. In that case it sounds like one would be better off sidestepping then ESS tune entirely and just having a third-party tuner get it sorted.

The DEFCON comment was in reference to the warning on ESS’s website. Bolding theirs:

Do NOT under any circumstance run headers on the N52 engine, this generates a massive O2 feedback timing issue and incorrect AFR control as a result. This can cause catastrophic failure when combined with boost! We will not support any issues whatsoever on a N52 equipped with aftermarket headers.

Catastrophic failure? Geez. Sounds extreme.
