Everyone talks so highly of Wedge, but they left me very disappointed
Im having the same issues as well and was tuned by Wedge as well. The car would start on a cold start and stumble around before completely shutting off. But if I immediately start it up right after the car will idle perfectly fine.

How's the tuning process going with Twisted so far?

Who did you have do your tuning?

Vendors bashing eachother on new accounts or something?

The only log on your datazap of a "3rd gear" pull shows a small -3* timing correction on one cylinder:https://datazap.me/u/alxsantan/log-1...m=7-32&mark=20

Everything about the log looks pretty normal...

As for your idle logs... You only show 30 seconds for Wedge custom tune and then 86 seconds for the OTS map. It's hard to really compare just how much better your idle is with the OTS map when the log of the Wedge tune is 1/3 the length...

Every time you retune the car needs to adapt. Especially going from an OTS to a tune actually meant for an upgraded turbo. It might take several days for the car to idle correctly off a cold start as fuel trims settle over time.

I don't see anything presented to warrant starting a riot over. Stock cars and tune even choke out on cold starts lol. BMW has a procedure to raise idle +150rpm. I turned cold start back on because I didn't like how my car idled off a cold start without the high rpm startup. The car is loud as shit on a cold start but it stopped any cold start stumbles.

The only thing to be upset about here is the lack of communication. Good luck finding any tuner that is responsive. They all take 1 week+ to send a revision and likely have to go through hundreds of emails before getting back to yours specifically. It is what it is in that regard and yeah it is BS.

Stick with it and I am sure you'll get the revisions you need. Maybe take some better logs in the meantime. One third gear log from 3300rpm to 5300rpm just aint going to cut it. Google on how to take a proper log.

Also, please tick the STFT option... it's not in your log and likely needed to dial in idle air and fuel.

you should absolutely not be using an OTS tune with a PS1. Without the custom tune you'll make the same power as a stock turbo lol.

Support is pretty low from any vendor on n55e from all the threads I read in here. I don't think they made the PWG DME for very long before switching to a different type for the EWG. Nobody really spent the time to make really good drivable tunes for these engines.

Don't get me wrong the wedge e30 tune pulls like a fkn freight train at wot and wedge has my PS1 pulling almost 20psi to redline with it.

BUT..... with just the 5 people in this thread on a dying forum your looking at at least $2600 in worthless tunes. Idk how much a single map is but my two were $600. You would think the time could be spent figuring out what is wrong with the cold start and idle. All I got from them (I'm sure the others got the same) was it's a hardware issue.

Engine just rolled 90k miles,12 new plugs (6 stock 6 ngk gapped 22) 7 new coils (1 to move around cyl to cyl) and 6 new injectors. Cleaned my 90k mile vanos, maf, and intake map, cleaned my 30k mile tmap, fuel pressure is legit on an ots idle. It's not a hardware issue.
Unmetered air leaks can eff with idle pretty good, but have a more negligible effect at higher loads. Have you tested your pcv valve in your valve cover, or done any boost or vacuum leak checks?

Do you have idle issues on the stock map?

A vacumm leak would cause positive fuel trims.

Looking at the log, fuel trims are very negative (-10% LTFT) which means the car is not getting as much air as it thinks it is... the opposite of what a vacumm leak does.

Jsmz are you on stock intake?

I do think this might be the tune but it could also be your hardware setup not matching what they provided you a tune for (e.g. intake). I lean toward your intake/tune because in the ots log your MAF reads ~6-7 g/s which is normal. Then in the Wedge tune log I see maf of 9-12 g/s which might indicate that ve is tuned higher than it should be causing the rich condition. Rich condition and -10%LTFT likely the cause of the rough idle.

I agree with what you said about negative fuel trim at idle, I hadn't looked at any of the logs. I also agree it's probably tune related if the issue is only there on the wedge tune.

Did anyone have this issue sorted out by Wedge? I'm having the exact same issue on my N55e PWG car. Idle and cold start are fine on stock and MHD Stage 2+ tunes but crappy idle and cold start with Wedge. Idle fluctuates and then tries to idle at 500rpm. If I gently touch the throttle, it stalls. Smells rich. Coming up to a stop sign when cold, clutch in, stalls. Idles better once it's warmed up. One thing I noticed was that the calculated air mass is reading 35%-45% higher than the MAF value on the Wedge tune. Stock and MHD are within a few percent. Not sure why this is?

They haven't fixed mine yet and it's frustrating to see others have had the same issue.

What do your long and short term fuel trims look like at idle? If the MAF values are different on the wedge tune that stock and MHD tunes, it sounds like they may have the HFM (Hot Film Massflow sensor) tables set up different for some reason. Normally, I don't think you'd need to touch those unless you change your intake. Do you have stock intake?
Have you let Wedge know about this discrepancy you've seen with MAF values across the different tunes?

Lol for dropping $500 on a tune and your car doesn't idle smoothly, file a charge back.

I've logged the OTS cold start and idle but I need to log it with the Wedge tune.

I'm running a BMS intake and included it in my list of mods to Wedge.

I've let Wedge know about the issue I'm having. Waiting for a fix and running the MHD OTS tune for now.

I went through about 4 revisions before I gave up. It got to a point where the car isn't stalling anymore but it still isn't right. My timing corrections are crazy even under small loads and RPMs are still bouncy at cold starts. I am still running the tune but I have been debating on going with David Shoup just because these timing corrections are not good. He said he could clean everything up and make everything run better. Only thing holding me back is another $500 out of pocket for a tune.

But who am I kidding. I am probably going to do it to keep me entertained with this car until SQ5 prices come down later this year or early next year.

I really like those SQ5's. But I'm going to stay brand loyal and stick with my e84! If you want an SUV, you should wait for an X3M!

An X3M would be nice but my fiancé and I are also trying to buy a house so an X3M may be a bit too much. I came from Audi and have been wanting to get back into another one for a few years now.

Honestly can't go wrong with X3M40/SQ5/M340/S4. They are all great cars and just comes down to personal preference. If your friend had an E90 like us and upgraded to a 2018+ S4, it will be a huge upgrade and I am sure he is enjoying it

Getting tuning started with David Shoup. Highly recommended tuner on the N55 Facebook group.

If possible can you report back with your review of the tuning process with them/him? I think Wedge and Twisted are off the list of potential tuners for most N55 people at this point.
