Thumbs up Made my E90 rims black

Hi guys,

today I spray painted my E90 rims with Plasti Dip. It worked out great and I think the result speaks for itself. It took me like 2 1/2 hours to do all four wheels. I am sure pros can do it faster but this is a quick and easy way to make your rims black and my friend who also has it, says it's holding up very well!

If you guys have questions or other comments feel free.

I am very happy

I'm usually not a fan of all black wheels, but I must say they look good on that color car!

I'm usually not a fan of spraying oem wheels but this really looks good and I've alway wondered how they looked sprayed and I'm sort of convinced to try it. Nice job!

Did you pop the center caps off first or mask them. I agree it does look good with your color car b

When I read the title of the thread, I was a little skeptical of what the results would look like. But after seeing the pictures, definitely legit. Looks great.

Thanks for the comments guys. It was really easy. Check out dipyourcarcom out on youtube and they will explain you everything. I also was skeptical when my friend told me about this but I spent like $2,500 on other mods recently so I wanted to save some money here

No you don't need to pop anything off. That's the beauty of it. You can easily remove the sprayed rubber from the center cab after you put on about 5 to 6 coats. Just check out dipyourcarcom on youtube.

Looks good on SG. I'd do the same if I didn't hate ny OEM wheels.

Plasti dipped wheels always look great at the beginning, but it won't last more than a month for the majority of people. Make sure you clean the brake dust off the wheels at least twice a week because if you let the brake dust sit, it will stick onto the plasti dip permanently.

Pretty nice looking. I did the same with my stockers. Waiting for better weather before getting VMRs.

I can confirm that break dust sticking is completely true. I left mine without washing them and now they are a dirty black color. Not really noticeable on my space gray car, but i need to redo mine. I take off the wheels tho.

Looks good man, I have a space grey as well with same wheels. I'll probably do the same..

How's the finish though when you look close, does it come out smooth or kind of like textured finish?

Plasti-dip makes things look cheap.

did the same for my stockies.

Might do my summer Style 172's but debating it.

I like the look, especially for $23. I clean at minimum twice a week, so mine have been good. I've had them painted since about July, and been getting compliments ever since. Apparently looks and feels like powder coating to some. They didn't believe I did it with plasti-dip.

I took mine off to paint them though, so it took me like 4 hours lol. I let each coat dry a half hour too, so it adds up.

your car has a twin (even got the PE I see)!! It's interesting to see the feedback on the forum though... can't say I received the same. For the prep, I took off wheels and caps though. Also did two coats of glossifier - they make the world of difference over the flat finish.

Does the glossifier help with the brake dust or do you still have to clean them often?
