NFS- your post represents the absolute definition of 'scathing'!

You wouldn't go so far as to call the 'smelly boys' 'thickos', would you?!

Anyone who considers fuel economy and torque to be more important than an engine that goes 'vroom' and an electronic dip-shit is a bit sus in my humble.

By the way I am currently drinking an £80 bottle of wine

I opened a bottle of 1989 Chateau La Lagune Haut Medoc earlier and the bugger was corked ... 18 year old claret poured straight down the sink.

Fortunately my more youthful 1991 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion is going down rather better.

Better do that this lunchtime as I have 3200 miles done.
I subscribe to the theory that if the oil needs checking, the tyres need air or the car needs washing it must be time to change it for a new one

A few of my friends have cars that need M O T's (is that the right term) how embarrassing is that

I didnt know that modern cars were fitted with dipsticks (apart from Carlos' 335d that is!)

peterG it does worry me when people have new cars and never check the oil...

how can you not check your oil on a performance car, or any car for that matter?

run it dry even once and the bearings take a hammering...

its too late once the pressure light is on

nowt wrong with an older car

id love an f40 which would have had 14 MOT to date

Ahh, but with the fuel savings we're making we could afford to tip that £80 bottle of wine down the sink, bit like the fuel economy that you petrol boys observe

I'll be off to the Indian tonight for a good takeaway and copious amounts of Cobra or a cheeky Chateauneuf du Pape

Anyway, just checked it - I hate dipsticks, never seem to be 100% clear to me. It was near the minimum... so what Oil do I need to put in it? Don't want to buy BMW stuff if I don't have to.
