I have a 2008 335i and would like to upgrade to the CIC. I’ve found a pretty good deal on a display, head unit and Contoller from a Canadian 4-5-2012 build date e91. Any issues with this? It has similar options to my current e90 if that matters.

Do I need to find a CIC with the HiFi System Prof DSP and the Sat Tuner like I have now?

the unit will work but have to be coded and activated for your car options and VIN

I was reading over on the audio forum trying to figure it out and they seemed to be saying the amp and speakers determined which system you have combined with the coding.

the type of the amp and speakers is coded in headunit and can be changed any time with coding using special bmw software or carly app

the cic unit should be coded for your option list
you may have small chance that donor car options list will be close to yours but that's quite rare

gotcha, I actually just picked up a CIC/Display/idrive controller. Looks like I'm about to find out the hard way haha. Any good straight forward emulators that people have had good luck with here?

hey all i am in the same dilemma i just purchased a cic screen and head unit and controller of one of the guys on this forum but i need to know what else i need to get it operational i would like to retain all of the features that i currently have i would like usb features so if anybody can help much app it cheers

you'll need all parts excluding emulator because you can also use software navigation activation instead emulator
also cic usb port only allows music import or export or map upgrade
if you also want bluetooth streaming and usb audio - you'll have to buy combox and usb wiring for it
