M30B35 is a really solid engine. it's big and heavy, and makes about the same torque as the N52, with less power - however it's pretty much indestructible.

My buddy had one of those when we were in HS, and had it for a while after that. Those are still his favorite Bimmers, it's funny because we were actually just talking about them last week!

If it makes ya feel any better I bought a 1er about a month ago and have driven it twice... once to pick it up and once to the store. delays were because the state of Illinois sucks to work with and because 1 maintenance job turned into 4 jobs and waiting on parts etc. :

Anyways I'm waiting patiently for your results too! Keeping my 328 as a daily.

Got a good test drive in!
probably woulda been quicker w/o my lady and her brother in the car. But the generic 0-60... whew boy. Very Linear as all of said in the past. Definitely puts you a little deeper in your seat. Had to take it easy for the most part... Lots of piggies hanging out. But that 1st gear pull.. omg...
Gonna drive again Tuesday since it SHOULD be only partly cloudy and get some video.

Kinda upset no one really said anything about the inner fender liner rubbing the front driver tire pretty bad... but all in all its gnarly.

idle is SLIGHTLY bumpy for the time being. should smooth itself out. I cant wait to ride solo later on in the week.

Why is the inner fender liner rubbing the front driver tire at all? I assume it makes an audible noise when you drive? I wonder how they missed that. Did they not put the screws back in after the install?

Why does it look all ragged and damaged?

Given the money I expect you paid I would be a bit angry. It's probably an easy enough fix but that still means at least a half hour's worth of work.

Really glad your baby is finally home! That filter set up does not look good at all.

There has to be a better way to fit the filter and intake than that, it crammed behind the fender down low is asking for hydro lock down where I live for sure. And the filter placement apparently pushing the fender liner into the tire, well that’s just no beuno at all.

I would look into changing that around somehow even if it meant cutting a vent into the hood to get the filter up high and get cool air to it, well to me that would even be preferential to that current set up IMO.

On the plus side... POWER!!! Love it!

As what big said above, torgus.
It must have been driven like that for some time now.
Gonna see if a friend is willingto help a dude out later in this week. My liner has always been unsecured to the bumper. (oem mustve had a stripped hole and the m5 faker didnt have a place for that screw to go, I suppose) I'd rather tear it out and make a shield behind the filter to preserve it from unecessary debris. But I cant compromise since the thing also protects the headlamp bits, too. Definitely makes a shitty sound when I take right turns. -________________-

That intake tube is soooo freaking stiff.
And having it out here is asking for hydrolock too in the summer time... so much freakin rain. Then dust will become an issue in Texas... Thats why I wanted the Z4 intake/cone setup! :/ It sits high up there and its great. When I start building my home in Texas, and have a garage to store it in, that idea of a cone filter peeping out the top, will definitely be an idea to ponder on. Slats are thin as it is, cutting them out the way for the endeavor of better cooling, would be awesome! At that point I'd make a scoop of sorts to capture more air, especially if the cone doesnt clear the opening (I honestly dont see it happening.. I can imagine it being a PITA to open up the hood.) But I am on the same page as you! Luckily, my driveway is fairly steep. And I always drive in facing the house. Whew... Justified scooping that e23 I posted above!

Absolutely! I dont launch the car... But I'll gun it from being stationary. I'm sure I could break traction if I launched.. Havent chirped yet, either. I managed to do it one time while NA and the hype was real. Maybe I can find them sweet shift point w/ this setup, soon.

Also... theres this one time, when I down shifted, the blower sounded wicked and I just lost my damn noodle, friends. das tight.
