Valvetronic Gasket Problem
Recently replaced my eccentric shaft sensor and replaced all the gaskets. Smelt something burning a couple days later and noticed oil pooled up all over the frame, cats, and valve cover. After removing the coils and valvetronic motor I noticed oil pooled up in the crevices of the VC. I believe the oil is coming from the valvetronic gasket. I removed it and 1/8" of the plastic threading came out. I cleaned up the area and attempted to reinstall it but the screw seems like it's never getting tight.
Checked this morning and it is still leaking. Do I need to replace the VC because of this?

Doesnt it thread into the head? Not the valve cover. The bolts are steel even on the early motors, i dont see how it could possibly thread into the plastic valve cover.
I noticed notes for the plastic cover in the TIS that mention proper gasket orientation - could it possibly the wrong way around? |
