E90 need shocks. Which come closer to m3?
Hi guys, I have a 330i sedan with sport package, and my shocks are leaking.
I don't want to spend money on coil overs but I'm wondering if there's a good high quality set of shocks that comes closer to m3 performance? M3 e92 m3 has edc and in comfort the dampening is really nice and solid, but no harsh, so I'm trying to relocate that. On the leaking 330 (193,000km) it feels very cheap and shitty. I've only had the 330 for 40,000 km and it's always felt this way. The m3 fees solid and heavy and smooth... that's the only way to explain it. Don't want to put in new Sachs sport shocks if it won't feel a lot better. It drives fine, a bit bouncy, and leaking all over the place. My concern with aftermarket is that it may make the car feel too rough and racey, which isn't what I want. Thanks |

Anything new will feel good at this point, but Koni yellows best meet the criteria you state.
Also, at that mileage buy mounts, bump stops, spring pads, etc. as they’re basically all shot too. |

Why not just buy new BMW shocks?
Many people swear by Bilstein or Koni shocks. Good luck and do your research

Probably the Bilstein B12 kit would be the best bet. However, you would have to couple it with; - Monroe upper, upper & lower upper shock mounts in the rear - m3 control arms front & rear - new control arm bushings in the rear subframe - new rear control arms (manzo adjustable maybe) - new tie rods - adjustable swaybar links - M3 subframe bushings - M3 differential bushings - Rogue Engineering Trans Mounts - Poly or 335is Engine Mounts In order to get the full effect. Will the above be too stiff & racey? Perhaps. For a 330i, I'd probably do what I've suggested below. The items above are really for a 335. - Bilstein B4 Sports and get all the surrounding hardware. Total cost in parts might be $600.00. They are at least 10% stiffer than stock, and that's going off the B4 regular specs. Idk for sure how much more stiffer beyond 10% the sport version of the B4 is. |

I would just replace with whatever the stock sport suspension was. The 330i with sport suspension drives about as good as it gets for a stock, non-M BMW. If your shocks are leaking then it should make a big difference.
Buying a bunch of M3 parts for a $5000 car seems silly to me but whatever you like to do for fun. |
