I did an unboxing video and this kit is BEAUTIFUL!

I remember someone here did a custom fitting of a dash cam's internals into a FLA based mirror housing like this.

Finally something good AND for reasonable price, unlike some other similar specs but overpriced dashcams
Novatek CPU and Sony 1/3 sensor with F2.0 lens - it's as good as it gets for that price!

So this is only functional when car is On/moving? no recording with motion when car is OFF?

They make the same "CYHY HD DVR" kits for other cars so this clip from a Porsche Cayenne shows the video quality of this kit .

In fact this video sample is what sold me.

Another thing I considered is if the camera was crappy then the housing alone could likely accept a similar sized replacement camera.

Becareful will the low Ali Baba Express prices some of those kits do not come with the Plug and Play harness but instead come with the fuse box tap in cables. Which isn't end of the world but....

It REPLACES your E90 E91 E92 E93 E9x mirror housing-shell so that everything mounts inside the mirror/rain sensor housing. See pics below and it should make sense:
