Since I`m not entirely satisfied with stock SACHS dampers I`m looking for an upgrade. The aim is to have a smoother and less crashy ride and 10-15mm lower than M-tech. No track days planned.

Looking through lots of topics KW Street Comfort seem to be the ideal option but are a bit too costly at £1200. Another popular option is B12 kit but I read opposite reviews on that and 35mm lowering might be a bit too much. So the idea is to find something that does 90% of the job for fraction of the price and have some money left on other mods like lighter wheels.

I`m pretty sure there are cars with good setup around here, would be happy to hear your thoughts and, what`s even better, have a ride.

+1 on this. Same exact set up on mine. I went M3 CA first, then tried originally with just the B8 shocks on m-sport springs. but it ended up feeling like an "almost there" set up. I ended up adding it with the Eibach pros to complete the b12 kit shortly after.

Never had an issue with speedbumps. The moderate to steep driveways are another story. But even those are manageable, just needs slight angled approach sometimes. It's not like a "extreme angle approaches at every bump" type of deal. DD friendly unless you live somewhere with huge potholes and hugely uneven roads.

I went with Eibach pro springs and Bilstein B4 (sport version) shocks.

If you want a smoother ride I wouldnt go for stiffer shocks.

got the bilstein b12 pro kit on my e92 330d and i was a little disappointed that it wasn't a bit lower, but the car rides and handles great and has never caught on any speed bumps.

I replaced all my shocks with OEM Sachs and fitted the Eibach Pro Kit Springs, its made the ride much smoother and it sits well and gets over most speed bumps perfectly.

B12 Pro kit for me, I've had the KW V1 and found it far too low and far too hard, replaced it with the B12 Pro kit and love it.

Some time has passed and I've decided to give a little update.

I went for B12 Pro-Kit and M3 arms in the front. Didn't get much of a drop (if any) but what a difference in ride quality - I was surprised when I first drove my car with a new setup.

But after around 200 miles I noticed that I get some weird knock at very low speeds, similar to busted ARB links. Except almost everything on the front is new aside from the steering rack. Could it be that I somehow have both shocks faulty? Or is there anything else worth checking?

I’ve got the b12 kit too. I find it a bit hard when pootling around on crappy town streets but when on better roads and driving faster it’s an excellent setup. I still haven’t got round to doing the M3 control arm thing but do plan to.
As for your knocking, I would also suggest arb’s. I replaced mine and they only lasted about 6 months so had to do them again, this time with lemforders which cured the knocking and have lasted longer so far. Don’t dismiss them being knackered just because they are fairly new in other words.

as above ive had 2 sets in 3 years,first were febi,think i need new control arms now as ive got a brake judder,febi also at 28 months ago changed

So in the end it was a slightly loose nut on the left tie rod. All was tightened, the nasty rattle is gone and steering feels a bit sharper.
