Hi folks,
I just picked up my Monaco Blue 335i coupe with Saddle Brown interior and am absolutely loving it! I ordered it sight unseen back in late October but couldn't be happier. At first I ordered the sparkling graphite with black leather but after contemplating for awhile decided to switch because I felt that everyone else would have that color. So, hopped on this board and saw pics of the Monaco Blue and felt that this was the one. However, I was still unsure right up until the time I saw my baby this past Saturday in person and man, I'm telling you, the deep blue/saddle brown is a killer combo. Everyone who has seen it "oohs and ahhs" all over it. I have never had so many looks from other drivers as well. Well, anyways, I just wanted to let those who haven't seen it in person already know that pictures do not do this car justice. You have to see it in person to fully appreciate the elegance of this color (especially with the saddle brown). I will try to post pics as soon as I can. Happy new years everyone! Kevin |

Welcome Kdog and congrats on the new ride!
You forgot to add the type of trim...Walnut, Poplar, Alum? As with the others....looking forward to the pics.

Thanks everyone! The trim I got is aluminum. My salesguy said that it would also look great with the Walnut, but decided on alum because I did want a more "sporty" element as well. Couldn't be happier! I think I have the best of both sporty and elegance. There is another 335i in my parking garage that is space gray (I think)....no offence to space gray people, but it is a little bland for my taste. Mine in comparison has a deep hue and brings out the lines really well even though it is a dark color. I was surprised by this aspect. Another thing is that, in my opinion, the Monaco blue makes the car have a bit more aggressive stance. I'm out of town until the 1st so will try and post pics next week. Missing my car already.... |

Just been informed it's time to order my 335i convertible for March delivery. Need to choose color. Love my current Mystic blue 330. Thinking about Monaco, but it seems kind of dark; however, some of the pix here make it look pretty good. I'm getting black leather with Aluminum trim, like I have now. Other considerations are Sparkling Graphite and Black Sapphire. Montego seems too bright. I wish I could just get Mystic again.

monaco with saddle
I noticed this pic I hadn't seen before that seems to really show off the combo b/w monaco and saddle. Too bad I couldn't find one with higher rez.

Any idea if this will be any easier than Jet Black to care for. I'm guessing they are close to the same. I'd appreciate your professional opinion. Also, how well do these dark colors do with the clear bra? Thanks!

Dark colors in general show a clear bra more just due to the reflections being more distorted (and more visible on darker colors), but if done correctly it isn't that bad. It'd probably be about as bad as mine: http://****************/fp/335i/kevin/tintcb/6.jpg http://****************/fp/335i/kevin/tintcb/8.jpg http://****************/fp/335i/kevin/tintcb/9.jpg http://****************/fp/335i/kevin/tintcb/10.jpg |

picus,
Thanks for the info. I love Jet black, but I hate the work to have it look right all the time. My E46 330cic was orient blue and even after 2 years it looked like new. I was hoping JB would be similar, but it sounds like I may be back to Monaco Blue. How close are the Orient Blue and Monaco Blue? Do you have any preference on the type of clear bra? I want to start looking around and pricing them while I am waiting. Figured I would start with the people who install the brand I find most recommended first. Appreciate you helping me rule out the JB thing. I was on the fence, but figured I couldn't justify it. If I had a garage I might reconsider, but too much work for a car that must be curbside most days.

On the films, most installers use 3M, I actually prefer venture shield only because it starts clearer, so if installed correctly it is less visible. Really though 90% of how good it looks comes down to the installer; I think if I had a couple guys really highly recommend a 3M installer and I saw and loved his work I would go with him rather than holding out for a venture shield guy. But all else equal I'd go with venture shield. Cheers. |

I have an orient blue 540 and monaco blue 335. Side by side the monaco is slighly darker. They are both difficult to keep looking like new. I wash them 2-3 times a week and paint maintance as needed to remove any minor scratches or blemishes. If you can keep up good maintanence and inspect the paint every day it's not that hard. I get home between 8-9 PM every night and inspect the paint under the flourescent lights in the garage. It's a labor of love, well worth it!

I'll start working the installers first. I guess the same rule applies to tint guys as well !? The best products misapplied by a crappy installer don't really do you much good.
