Help please :(

So I washed my car...and well...disaster. My trunk wont open and several lights aren't working but the bulbs are fine :S.

I will begin by saying I know it's a common issue where people have forgot to check the trunk lock switch in the glove box, however, that is not the case.

The issue I'm having is I washed the car as I normally would at a coin-op. Proceeded to hand dry the car at which point everything was working correctly. As soon as I started the car, I got the following CC-ID error codes:
123
133
371
Trunk open

It seems the whole left hand side of the trunk loom has malfunctioned; which is exactly the case as my whole driver side inner tail lamp doesn't work (reverse light, inner light) and license plate lights or trunk lock switch (I can open with key).

My brake lights work perfectly fine, left and right. My passenger side inner lights work fine as well as reverse.

I checked the loom from the trunk and it seems okay as I can't find any frayed wires; maybe I'm not looking hard enough? I dont know.

So I thought I'd check the fuses (2, 19, 31, 32, 33, 52, 53, 12, 7) but all were perfectly fine.

Any help would be great, it's a 07 E90

Did you open the hood and blast water in the engine bay?

Does you cover keep coming off your trunk just as the pics shows? Because mine does, so I guess I should keep an eye out for something like this

Glad to hear you got it resolved!! Had no clue what the problem was, but it sounded expensive.

Really? Nick try to see if your grommet is smaller than the trunk cut out. Mine is extremely snug I only pulled it off to find the cut wire. Sounded very expensive indeed! But I found a previous post on here that someone showed what had happened. It was crazy, theres 4 other wires in that loom that are cut and I've taped them off with electrical tape. But I can guarantee down the road I'll be soldering more wires.

How are the wires getting cut? Are they rubbing on the sheet metal?

Was about to chime in because I had the same problem.
In my case it was loose ground terminal by the passenger's rear strut tower behind the carpeting. On bumps I'd get TPMS, trunk open and bunch of "lights out" errors. Then everything back to normal.

beats me, its a common issue in E39 and E46. the wires that were cut were inside the rubber part so theres no way they got crimped or cut on metal. people have said it just happens over time - i dont get it but meh

That would get very annoying for me, our roads are crap and I hit bumps always

Ahh I always find it out of the socket when I open my trunk. I plug it back in everytime, and it seems snug. But when I open it again, its fallen out from the hole

Probably got a trunk with a larger than required cut out for it. Sucks monkey balls.
