N55 HPFP (Fuel Pump) Failure

I have to unfortunately inform everyone that I own a 2011 335i with the n55 motor and I have just had my fuel pump fail. The car is only 2 months old and only has 1500 miles. As always, it started with longer cranks, then an unbelievably odd start where it idle surged, then dropped rpm's and I finally get the infamous half engine light. (see attachment!) I take it in and they read the code, yep; fuel pump failure! It is currently getting worked on and should have it back by next week. It is ridiculous that this problem hasn't been fixed after 4 years and a new engine! Just wanted to share...

I am surprised no one has made an aftermarket pump for the N54 and N55, there seems to be a good bit of money to be made there

If a sustainable pump can't be created, then there is a clear fault in the engine design and the n54 and n55 should not be produced because it's just a revolving door, right?

Wow just wow..welcome to the club I guess. I'm on #4 now.

Please let us know what kind of HPFP they use in the N55 engine. I wonder if its a 943 or 933.

Oh no!!!!!!!

Thats very bad sign for us N55 owners I was really hoping that this will not happen to the N55 anymore, that they should have "finally" fixed the problem.

I think there is no aftermarket replacement because it's a really hard part to design, unfortunately. Spraying anything at thousands of psi is hard... You'd think one of the major fuel pump vendors would have competed for and won the contract already though!

Not really that surprised since it uses the same HPFP as the N54 and the N54 issue hasn't been fixed.

Rats, this is bad news for me. I was happy knowing that there were no reported failures of the HPFP for N55, then you come and post this and completely wipe the smile of my face

Hey, I just got her back, they were able to finish it today and they said because the car was so new, they were scanning the entire dme before and after to send off to BMW to investigate this issue further. The new pump I received is a -933 pump which they stated was the newest they had after receiving a new batch. I think BMW is consistently working this issue but it has proven to be a very difficult one. I am not that angry, I am only on pump #2 now, now when 3,4, and 5 roll around, someone is gonna get it...
