I really like the M4 wheels. I don't have the cash for the real ones and I don't want knock offs.

Define your budget. A budget set of wheels to one person is not the same as a budget set of wheels to another.

You are probably going to find that its easiest to find a nice set of OEM wheels on the forums pretty fairly priced if you're interested in other model's wheels like stated above. Also tires can make or break the budget and I would not skip out on good tires to meet the budget. Just my opinion.

There is a good forum on tires and wheels. Go to main e90 forum and scroll down to tires and wheels section. Your question isn't specific to our diesel engines.

go to www dot bmwstylewheels dot com/3/E90+
and look at the numerous offerings. Popular ones from the e90 platform are the 162, 193, 197, 219, 313, 359 - but it really depends on what 'look' you want. If getting a wheel that was not off an e90, you will need to verify offsets.

Pick a style you like and then search on the Wheel & Tire For Sale by owner section (like Cuda recommended). You can get some for as little as $100 to 150 per wheel with used rubber.

Good luck hunting.

I'm a little partial because my d has the sport package, but personally I like the sport wheels about as good as any other including the m sport wheels. I would think those could be had pretty cheap if you didn't already have them on your car.

What wheels do you have now, what kind of change are you looking for (size, width, weight??), and whats your budget?

If youre looking for better quality wheels than stock you will likely struggle to meet that goal on a tight budget. You can buy big heavy awful wheels for cheap that will last, light wheels for cheap that probably wont last, or another style of unpopular stock wheels for cheap. Unless you can spend at least $1k for a new set of wheels you might already have the best wheels for your budget.

I really like the looks of your car after the powder coating. Made me start to think about having my wheels powder coated. Ultimately I decided to stick with stock. My car is space grey, so I think the silver wheels fit pretty well as is.

sukutash did you do suspension mods? plan on doing 17x9 square apex, but even with that i thought i had to pull alignment pins in the front for clearance? would think a 9.5 would require camberplates and/or spacer?

My car is space grey as well, with the sport package wheels. I dipped them matte black and they looked okay, then I added a few coats of glossifier and they looked amazing. Now they're back to silver with clear coat chipping off because the tire shop scraped my dip and the previous owner didn't take good care of the wheels. Hopefully soon I can get them repaired and powder coated gloss black, since I think it really compliments the car.

Agreed! I think gloss black would look better than matte black for our cars. Post some pics when you do get it done.

I like to stick with OEM wheels, BMW has some of the best looking wheels out there if you ask me. Some of the 'M' wheels are awesome.

I went through these shenanigans last spring. I wanted wheels badly, plus the relization that one of my stock m193 wheels was bent, really made me want to upgrade to some lighter better wheels. Long story short, I had endless nights of research and debating on which wheel to go with, which size and offset. I really wanted the forgestar f14's but got scared by all the negative feedback on their product. Plus I was not willing to go to those means to get the really deep concave look, i.e. Rolling fenders, cutting bumper and running super stretched tires.
So I ended up with a set of arc-18's 9.5 square setup with 255/35 pss's. I also installed the b12 kit and pulled the pins on the top plates. I have 3mm spacers for upfront but don't use them. It is a tight squeeze but works. Slight rubbing when turning the wheel hard in the parking lot.

The OEM wheels LOOK great but outside of M wheels they leave much to be desired in terms of durability and weight. Two things which you should never be worse than average on both but BMW still managed to do it.

I am lowered on bilstein b12 kit with M3 lower arms up front. With the 17X9, with proper offset, would not require much of any suspension modification. In my case, I ground off the aluminum pins on the strut caps in order to slide them over ever so slightly to get the most camber possible without camber plates. I think this is what you mean by alignment pins and hope I answered your question. The M3 arms will increase the negative camber as designed. I have no rubbing issues.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I have m3 lower arms also.

Unfortunately I don't have any recent pics with the mods. Will have to do that soon

Yeah the cast non-M wheels are definitely boat anchors, lol.

At 27 lbs the M-sport wheels aren't exactly lightweights either.
