2017 Land Rover Discovery with 3.0 Liter diesel looks interesting but pricey.

I love the BMW inline turbo-diesel 6, but my 2011 335d sport package was a bit too difficult for my large frame to go in and out (after aging for 5 years!), a bit rough in the ride department, and eating through tires even when aligned properly. It was not as good a long distance car as I had hoped, having enjoyed a 2005 E320 CDI for 200,000 miles.
My 2016 leftover 535d has plenty of good handling, a decent steering response, with a wonderful ride, much better comfort, and the updated engine doesn't go below 35 mpg average. I got it for CPO money, and a better interest rate. I will miss the sports car character of the 335d, so perhaps the future will allow me to get a nice Porsche, if they ever get off their $$$$ butts at Stuttgart. PL |

Well when I do my DPF delete my $8,000 car will unsaleable in CA. So I am driving it into the ground. The only things I don't like about the D is the seats and how low the car.
I would like a used Porsche Panamera or an M2. |

I still have my 335d as my play car. I bought a 2011 X5 M as my main car.

It was my understanding that Audi had to repay the dealers for those vehicles, at least give them huge money back to keep them. So they have them for dirt cheap, then the dealer will probably sell them for only a couple thousand below MSRP. Never trust a dealer, especially the owner.... |

Long story, I got rid of the 335d to buy the wife her X5 35d. I should of kept my car, I missed it. I sold it to my friend and his ABC's fell off. I drive it some times and made me miss it more. I then purchased a 04 V10 diesel Touareg that was tuned. I like it but it broke down on me due to a bad turbo control module and so it's been sitting for a couple of months. The only person I trust to work on it besides myself is in San Francisco and backed up on work. I am also too busy to work on it (gotta pull the engine to fix). My wife suggested I get a new car as a daily driver. The SS seemed like a good choice lol. Plus it's still under factory warranty.

I bought it a year and a half ago.....2016 VW Golf Sportwagen SE tsi. With my Neuspeed power module it makes 200 hp and 250 lb ft and it is the best car Ive ever owned for in town errand running. Now the 335d lurks in the garage until we take a road trip, a task of which it handles better than most. When my new house is done and I move to CO in Dec-Jan I will probably trade the Sportwagen for a 4 wheel drive version or a VW Atlas.

I live in Illinois where almost all gas stations sell biodiesel. I only refuel at Meijers. Unless something changes and regular diesel becomes more readily available I will go back to a gasser. Would love to get into an M2 but that won't be for 3 or 4 more years unless these little costly things keeping coming up on the d.

I've actually been eyeballing the i3 a bunch now.
a used one with like 10k miles is only like $20k. and basically free fuel especially if you can charge up at work during the day. the new i3 94ah w REx can get you about 200mile range which is plenty. also since there are no mods really for the i3, you could just put more $ into the D to make it faster. 180 hp is still pretty healthy with like a 3000 lb car... not too far off a civic Si specs. basically a giant golf cart with plates on it, and who doesnt love driving golf carts and it is basically a Porsche with rear engine and RWD. |

D is just broken in with 130k KM (85k miles). Should get another 6 years out of it with regular maintenance. It's paid for itself already.
Next for me is likely going to be EV. Model S P(insert big number here). Mrs will have a mall crawler diesel to replace her Wrangler in 3-4 years. Pending catastrophic failures of course. For now paying down debt is top priority. |

Above indicates "mall crawler diesel" for the Mrs. I believe for lots of short trips, the Diesel is not the optimum choice, it does best for longer hauls. But to answer the original question (which I responded to years ago), the D will be replaced with a Tesla 3, or an equivalent if another car company comes up with one in time (hint hint BMW). As we have 2 cars, the 340GT will serve for hauling stuff, or very long distances. |

I bought a 2017 Honda Accord Touring. It's a great car, and the V6 is nice for what it is. It's definitely bigger than the D (lol)..and mpg's suck also, but I still love it. I use the D as my weekend/long distance(2nd) car now, and the Accord as my primary daily driver to work.
