But that touring looks badass and the larger diesel respondes very well to modifications too.

Garage List
Nice conversion but old news. Read about almost a year ago....
Could be interesting to see how much power could be made from that engine though.....racechip promise approx 470hp with box tuning.....

I feel that at the rate BMW has been going, they're going to end up discovering the most efficient setup is a one turbo per cylinder ratio, with varying turbo sizes.

I doubt that.

"This estate BMW started life as an ordinary, fairly-potent 330d, but now it can sprint from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in just 4.9 seconds and all the way to a limited top speed of 296 kmph/184 mph. Why? Because BBM Motorsport fitted the 3-Series Touring with the tri-turbocharged, 3.0-litre mill found on the M550d. "

Considering our cars can make that same sprint in 6 seconds stock, I'm fiarly sure any tune Stage 2 or higher will beat it out. Add in other performance goodies and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if someone could whip up on one of these. Most? Probably not. But a good portion of us are tuned.

On full stock exhaust with jbd and meth mine went 4.2s 0-60. With full deletes and tune should be in that range or better.

How did you measure 0-60? Log or calculator?

They're at 0-62 in 4.9 seconds with a much heavier car.

Repeat your runs with your car at 4608 lbs wet weight (no fair counting your body weight) , and then we'll be impressed

Edit to add: on street tires: "...Z-Performance 19-inch ZP10 rims wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires."

Why does it weigh so much? The f30 wagon weighed under 4000 lbs, they are only up to about 100 lbs more than the d is if you go by advertised numbers.

My run was on street tires.

I can't repeat it anyway unless I put in a ton of work in since I don't have full stock exhaust anymore nor a jbd to pair to it

...
I must be missing something ... didn't that car, in its heaviest trim (automatic X drive), weight in at only 1705kg, or 3760 lbs?
https://www.auto-data.net/en/?f=showCar&car_id=20751

1705 kg is less than the weight of the NA version of the 335d. How did they add ~850 lbs with the engine swap?

Sorry guys, I was wrong--I'd grabbed the wrong weight. I don't know how much heavier the 550d engine is.

Diesel on

..but I still want to see the slips for 0-62 in 4.9 seconds, on street tires. Proof or it's just internet bluster.

Does a street legal DOT drag radial count? It's a legal "street tire" :-)

Hehe, nice find of a loophole Wyse.

No, be legit and use tires equivalent to Michelin Pilot Sports like he does (which are amazing street tires, IMO.)

Here's one I found in old pictures. I know that it's on jbd and meth with 265/35 r18 continental dw tires based on the carpet on the background. Calculator says 4.17 0-60, I'm sure there are other calculators around which would give some numbers possibly higher and lower but I'm sure none as high as 4.9.
