low $$$ upgrades to put power to the ground

Hi guys,
at 400+ rwhp, the car looses traction way to easy in 1-2-3 gear (6MT).
what are some upgrades I can make to help the car put the power to the ground, keeping in mind that I do not want to pay big money for a LSD?
Also the car is DD...
any suggestions?

Lol yup..but there is no point in having power if you can't use it to the fullest. Well at least not under 50 mph or so.

He did say tires, not rims. I also second his choice.

If you are running a JB4 there is an option to rev limit 1st and 2nd to prevent wheel spin.....

what's your wheel/tire setup? Put some meat on those wheels, that's the easiest way. If you're using spacers, get rid of those and get wider tires

yeah what stock wheels? Just run some wider Michelin Pilot Super sports, work great for me. You also need to learn to modulate your throttle better, If i just Floored it i would spin 1st and 2nd too... its all in how you drive it. As someone else mentioned too, the JB4 has 1st and 2nd PSI limits you can set via your gauge cluster.

You need tires. In my 400whp civic on drag radials I would be spinning through 4th gear. Best way to control it was 1st and 2nd half throttle which will still spin and bounce of the limiter but a lot more control. In my FBO 335i I just butterfly it and it works fine. Only way to full throttle off launch is sticky tires

I mentioned I was on stick rims because I can't put 275s on them. What is a good tire that's DD?

Also I know all I gotta do is give less gas in 1-2 but that is power wasted. Is there nothing else beside tires and LSD that will allow me to put more power to the ground?

Pretty much tires and LSD..... you don't want either of those, so your only option is not going full throttle. There's no "magical" part that will give you more traction...... especially not for cheap. LSD would be the best bet, if you can't do that, go wider tires. If you can't do that, go with stickier tires. Usually a lower treadwear rating would be a good estimate for sticky tires. I mean, you mention it's a DD...... do you floor the throttle off the line every single time? Your MPGs must suck..... there are other ways to drive other than WOT 100% of the time.

Seems like you're in way over your head. Sell the car and get something more practical for yourself.

As others have suggested, better tires would be a good start. I am really happy with my Conti DWS. Also, don't give it the gas right away - let the tires get traction and then give it gas. If you can, I'd suggest saving up and getting an LSD (or trade your car in and get an xdrive model).

Sticky tires will be your best bet at the moment like others have said... or switch to a less aggressive map.
