Not saying you're wrong or trying to argue, just going off of what I read when the M2 was first released.
A F series n55 EWG does not fall off Mount everest past 5800 rpm. Youre correct about the PWG n55.

First dyno is from burger's website from their "m235i test car with intake and exhaust".

Other dynos are from their m2 thread with various fuels.

No and yes.
BMW ECUs use strong cryptography for protection. Those MSD 80/81 ECUs (N54) also verify all program and calibration data updates, crypto methods are the same for MEVD17.2 ECUs, E-series N55 at least, just more work in general.
For OBD-only reflash there’s a security vulnerability that is being exploited, making the ECU think the update is legit.
Once the security logic is patched properly, either through bench flash jailbreak or OBD method, verification logic is disabled, shaving off a few seconds reflash time for additional benefit.
