Man, i don't know but people vouch for BHS a lot, i don't know why they think its the sh*t here in Houston. I'm with you on this though.
Man, but $200 for the install is the cheapest I found, and I HAVE to buy the springs from him for $249, even though my wheel guy is selling it to me for $200. Do you guys think I HAVE to get an alignment after the install? I hope not! Quote:

Yes! Why anyone (not just you) thinks that the suspension can be removed and replaced without an alignment puzzles me to no end! People spend the money for suspension parts but don't want to complete the job! Getting a "dialed-in" alignment from someone knowledable can go a LONG way to making the most of your car's suspension. Even if you don't get a performance alignment, you should get a basic one, or at least put it up on the rack to see if everything's in spec, it's worth it!!! Danny

Aaaarrgggh.. this drop is proving to be more expensive than budgeted. okay okay. So get an alignment. What do you mean performance alignment vs. normal alignment?
I can't recally what the performance shop quoted for alignment, but i figured to get the install by them, and then take it to a simple service shop to get the alignment. maybe discount tire? if they do that. i think the performance shop said it would be like $120. can you explain WHY i would need an alignment? thanks. When the car leaves the factory, it get's an alignment because by just installing the suspension alone, the car will not track in a strait line. But that's okay, that's why they have adjustments built in. Once those adjustments are altered, like when you remove the springs and dampers, the specs are gone. So when you alter the suspension, you need to re-align it, either to factory or performance specs. Lowering is never just a matter of installing springs. At the very least, you should get the car alignment done. Danny Danny

Yeah, but on my prelude with eibach pro-kit i never needed a camber kit. it was acceptable though not at 0.
thats why i think h&r sport may not need camber kit. Quote:

Okay, agreed. I remember now with my prelude i did get an alignment done.
but i will go for a factor spec alignment. I don't want to wear the tires out more than they need to, don't autocross; imho the car handles awesome as it is. so how much should i expect to pay for a factory spec alignment? Quote:

With the pro-kits and sports, rarely do you need camber kits, they are still in adjustable range. With sportlines or race, camber kits are needed because of the extreme camber angles that cannot be corrected within the normal factory adjustment range. Danny

I will opt for the regular one too, I've had performace ones before in my previous cars, 1999 prelude included! Danny

its funny how a lot of e90 owners were also prelude owners. I've had a Prelude, TL and e90. And I know a lot of others on here have had those cars as well. Guess we all have similar tastes.
i'll get the alignment done then. thanks Quote:

Because your getting ripped off! Anything with a "performance" tag is sold at a premium. Your right, it's dialing the same points, but everyplace I've been to charge more for a "track" setup verses the local guy at wheelworks. On that thought, I don't mind paying extra for someone who understands how to dial in a car vs the guy at wheelworks...

^ it's always a good idea to have an alignment done after a suspension install. your specs are going to be off. better to pay for an alignment now, rather than to have premature tire wear, which you'll need new tires and an alignment.

some guy from E46 forum told me wherever I go, do not go to this shop... cause he had some really bad experience about this shop with his M3. this guy and the shop's owner has some arguement in E46 forum. I'm not sure which one is right. but after asking many member's opinion. I think $650 and 6 hours is.....you know what I mean.. I don't want to left my car in a shop which I've never been there before. |
