E90 heater blower issue
When starting the engine blower would kick in for a second at full speed for a second and then stop. Would sometimes occasional just stop working for a while . Replaced regulator and it worked fine for a couple of weeks and the stopped working completely. All the dash control lights work. Done some checking with multimeter and have 12v to regulator with ignition switched off. When ignition is on, regulator terminals for the blower both show around 8v. Have tested the blower and it works fine.
Question is, should there be 12v to regulator with ignition off. : |

Not typical symptoms but has your car had the wiring harness recall done?
If not your friendly BMW dealer could replace the harness and you might find they solve the problem for you under warrantee. Not sure what the supply of parts is like at present and whether the dealer would consider the recall "essential" enough to open the workshop for but it's surely worth a phone call. |
