Prewiring? Need an answer asap!!
I found while swapping my carpet color out what appears to be the connector for a usb/aux port like the 6fl option has. My car is a 2008 and I have the tcu. I thought tcu didnt have a usb port so why would bmw put in the wiring? Also can I swap out my aux only for a 6fl usb and aux port? Thanks!!!

That is the pre-wiring for the phone cradle antenna that goes in the console. To swap out a TCU with a MULF, you need to run the usb and aux wires from the trunk to the console. Your current aux goes to the back of the head unit. BMW USB extension wires are cheap on ebay from china. Aux wiring is just line level cable. Or just put a tune2air in the trunk with the Mulf and skip usb in the console.

Yes you can skip MULF but if you go MULF first, the needed wiring to the center console is identical to what combox needs. But once you have combox you probably will only use bluetooth for everything so the USB never gets used.

Most people find it easier to to the CIC retrofit first and then combox a few weeks after they confirm everything is working as expected. What you learn doing the CIC will make the combox much easier.

^ This is the route I am taking. I just finished getting my CIC installed on Monday and I still need to do the coding which I will probably do on Saturday. I routed the USB cable when I ran the GPS extension cable so it is ready to go and my Combox and wiring harness are sitting on my work bench ready to go in.

I have installed the cic and most of it works. I still have my stock tcu. A couple of problems I have is I have navi greyed out, my aux volume wont go up from 0, i dont have sat radio even though my car is prewired for it, and my usb port doesnt recognize my update file on the car and says plug in a usb eventhough i have a fat32 formatted usb with only the update file. Any answers would be super helpful!
