VMR Wheels - VB3 19x8.5 19x10 ** Hyper Black **

VMR Wheels VB3 CSL Mesh in Hyper Black

We've received a few requests for installed photos of our hyperblack, as well as fitment questions on a 19x8.5 and 19x10 combination. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I went ahead and swapped wheels/tires over the weekend and took some quick photos.

I kept the same tires from my prior setup which was a VB3 19x9.5 ET33 and VB3 19x10 ET38, but for this current setup, the front wheels were switched over to a 19x8.5 ET40. The 19x10 ET38 fits very nicely with the wider tires.

Another reason I went with a 19x8.5 ET40 is that the 19x9.5 ET33 wheel was fighting for space with the coilovers I now have. What happens is that some of the aftermarket coilovers out there, combined with height adjustable collars, ends up being much bigger in diameter than the factory shocks. And because I was about to embark on a 1000+ mile road trip (from LA to Oakland/San Francisco and back), I decided to go conservative. I'm glad to say that it looks, feels, and drives very nicely!

Wheels
Front: VMR Wheels VB3 19x8.5 ET40 Hyperblack
Rear: VMR Wheels VB3 19x10 ET38 Hyperblack

Tires
Front: 245/35/19 Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport
Rear: 275/30/19 Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport

Our hyper black wheels feature a black powdercoated primer followed by several thin layers of different base coats; and finally to finish with a high gloss liquid clear coat. This gives quite a bit of depth to the color, and in my opinion, may be my favorite color to go with Montego Blue. Its another color that shows very well in low light / night time conditions.

Here are the pictures! Took these after my 1000+ miles of driving, mowing thru dozens of potholes/hazards thru the crappy streets of SF/Oakland.

How would it look on a Sparkling Graphite e90, and would the fitment be the same?

I am torn between the hyperblack and gunmetal and wondering if there would be enough contrast with either, besides the usual silver on an SG color.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've seen both and I think both works well Maybe you can "borrow" some sample wheels and put it up against your car.. you'd have to pay roundtrip shipping tho. Its actually very difficult to photochop wheels on a SG car.

It does feel like you will get some sort of understeer, but it really depends on how you drive, the tires you choose, and also the direction you go in terms of tuning. Chip + turbos + DSC/DTC Off might take your car from an understeer situation to an oversteer situation real quickly. With a wider rear tire, theoretically speaking your car can hold its grip for a little longer. But the most important is driver preference and whether the driver can feel confident with the setup.

If you are going to/from work, driving normally, you won't notice a single difference. But driving near the limits/on the track, you'll notice it pretty quick. With my current 245/275 + coilover + aggressive alignment settings, I haven't had the guts to push the car to the limits. It can take corners plenty fast for me to get in a lot of trouble

Could you run this same tire size combo with RE-11's if the fronts were 19x9+40? (without rubbing of course)

This is essentially the same fitment as the 19x9.5 ET33 so you should be fairly close to my result. The only concern is that the RE11 is slightly wider than the 760 Sport so you may need spacer or camber adjustment to get it working.

Excellent!

Now you just need black wheel lug bolts to finish the look!

Haha.... I was just thinking how the chrome/bling does not match the wheels very well. Taking the thought one step further... My Mystic Blue E60 also has VB3 Hyper Blacks... but the car also has matte black grills / shaded tail lights and in my opinion is a very good color scheme. So yes, I would recommend it
