Ok i did some research and found out that u can check the oil level with the BC...sorry I didn't get the manual when i bought the car. Anyways my oil level is right at Min | line and it also said +1l Does that mean I'm suppose to go add in more oil now??? If so should i add it to the MAX | line??? Another thing I wanna ask is in the service screen my oil number shows 14,000 what does that mean??

So... are all the oil display level lights off? Empty? That means you are one quart low on oil. This is why you are getting that yellow oil light when shutting the engine off.
You should only use a BMW LL-1 (long life one, BMW approved)oil. You can buy a quart at any BMW dealer(Castrol syn) or use Mobil-1's 0w40 euro blend(with the black label). Not many other oils meet BMW's LL1 rating. read the back of the oil you will be adding to make sure it says BMW LL-1!!! That 14,000 number is refering that you have 14K miles to drive before your next service. Hope this helps clear things up. |

Hi thanks for the reply first of all. The oil display level lights fills up to the MIN line so its not totally empty. But it has a +1L warning so i'm not sure what that means...maybe telling me to add in 1L of oil? Thanks for the BMW LL-1 tip I will keep that in mind.

Get the manual for your car. It should have been sold with one.
The oil level readout only shows the level of engine oil for the last (7th) quart of oil in the engine. So when the readout bar shows halfway instead of full it means your engine has 6.5 quarts of oil, or 1/2 a quart low. However the gage is not perfectly accurate so BMW recommends that you only add quarts in 1-quart intervals, which is why you have a bar reading of "Min" and "+1", which means you are at the minimum level of the 7th quart (i.e. only 6 quarts of oil are in the engine) and 1 quart needs to be added. |
