I don't know, but I would love to see a software interface developed to allow us to do this. It would be a huge hit in the community I think! Patrys offers a great service for things I wanted and it was an easy decision for me.

Patrys. It is always important to take precautions when you give someone control of your computer.

The fact is that some countries are known for hacking - Russia, Poland, the balkans, (basically any of the old "Soviet bloc" countries) Israel and France just to name a few are generally considered to be countries where the computer laws haven't caught up to the hacking skills - or the hacking is state sponsored.

I'd have no qualms buying from you (and may well once I get some issues sorted) but I'd only do it from a computer that had no personal information on it and would get wiped thereafter - regardless of where the seller is.

Not only that, but doing something like this on a clean computerdecreases the likelyhood that there will be some sort of port conflict. I can reimage the computer with a clean Win7 install in about a half hour - far less time than it takes to resolve a conflict.

Agreed 110%. You can never be too safe these days. I see the potential for a lot of things to go wrong with this.

First off, the screen goes black? You have no idea what Patrys is doing during this time. He could be looking through your files, maybe even installing a keylogger or something. Not to mention, NCS Expert shows your VIN does it not? I don't know what he can do with the VIN but yeah... What about FSC codes? I don't even know. I'm not very technical but be careful guys.

The clean laptop sounds like a good idea and then wipe it clean again afterward to be safe.

As I said before I agree with you!!!

But I just did not understand why Poland was on your black list. I did a quick search in Google to see anything about Poland and hackers and identity theft and couldn't really find anything... But again it was just a quick search and I would really hear such stories living in Poland, wouldn't I?

So to sum up, if somebody feels better giving me access to a clean install of Windows I am absolutely fine with that and I even prefer it. Sometimes people have so many background applications running which make their computers extremly slow

I have spent 6 years working for one of the top computer security companies in the country and much of my professional life in computer security and I had Patryk code my car and he was very professional and certainly isn't out to hack the world 1 bmw owning idiot at a time.

Didn't mean to start shit in this thread guys. I'm just a tinkerer and like learning stuff on my own. So I thank everyone who dished out info (mathu.bala especially). Also appreciate Patrys for providing this service to people.

I agree with roadkillrob that Patrys probably isn't going to anything malicious with anyones laptop, BUT I also use Teamviewer at work (if thats the remote software he uses, think someone mentioned that) and I know for a fact that the screen doesn't need to blacked out if the person remoting in doesn't enable it....

Given that he is in Poland doesn't help either - one of the areas where computer hacking/identity theft is pretty widespread.

I suspect that Patrys is perfectly fine, but always take precautions before you "hand" your computer over to anyone.
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!! I was going to ask if he had checked to see what else might have happened to his computer. 5 files loaded? What are each for exactly? sounds too fishy for me...

Patry,

Could you quote me a price for these options:

Remove LED errors on rear side markers
Add a digital speed to the display on my speedometer
Code the mirrors to fold or unfold with fob or CA

Patryk coded my car via WinXP running natively on my MacBook Pro, so it's not an issue, just need to install XP

Don't do it in a VM though - I did that and he had issues communicating with the car!
