okay I have a question regarding the installation of the lSD. I was told by a local shop that I needed a specialty tool that costs $1100 to do the install & that not just any shop can do it because they don't have this special tool. Is this correct? where are you guys calling to get installation quotes?

They might be referring to the $600 diff tool. You can make your own out of plate or buy 1 like the AR design tool. I can't think of any other expensive tools needed other than a dial indicator and a torque wrench which don't cost $1100. Maybe try another shop.

I Found an installer for $300-$350

What fluid is recommended? and is it a direct fit or does the case need alteration like I have heard with quaif installs?

Do the ring gear bolts need replacing and if so part #? axle seal part #?

My guess is the bolted Diff is easier / cheaper than the welded.

Good to know. I think this is going to be the next mod. Too much HP, not enough traction.

Thats $1350 installed for an LSD.

Mind blown.

My total was $592. That covered the labor, seals, fluid, tax & fees. Work was done at Unitrax in Anaheim, CA.

I assume everyone is talking about getting the whole unit installed? Not the diff into the housing, correct?
