Modified 320d E90

I wanted to post some photos and background on my recently modified E90.

I’ve been driving this as a company car for the past 3 years as a daily commuter – a nice 320d SE with leather, sports seats, sports suspension, bluetooth etc.

When the lease expired I decided to buy the car in December as it was at a very competitive price (at only £6.5k), had never let me down and had been well maintained (obviously!). High mileage of 80k was the only downside but diesels means it should have a long life (I hope..)

I’d added some blackline rear lights over summer so already had an interest in planning some further modifications when I bought the car.

I’d collected a few parts from eBay anyway and placed my order for the AC Schnitzer E90 bodykit and some accessories over Christmas. This was fitted by a local body shop who were happy to do something different to regular accident repairs. The wheels were fitted by a local tyre specialist. Finally, I went for the Spider Tuning box which is so well recommended on this forum.

I know AC Schnitzer kit isn’t to everyones taste but I’m very pleased with the results. The car looks quite distinctive and a lot more sporting than my old SE (and the M Sport in my opinion).

The Spider Tuning box is also fantastic – making the car far more eager without damaging MPG. Fitting it was surprisingly easy. It is not a racing car obviously but the box takes it up around 190hp which makes day to day travel very enjoyable and I need a high mpg diesel because on the miles I do. But for this a 335i/d would be nice of course ;-) The insurance company premium for the tuning box was a very reasonable £100 extra a year – which I think is a better bet that hiding it and risking a rejected claim if the worst happens.

I’ve also enjoyed the reaction from friends/colleagues who all associate modification like this with boy racers but who (mostly) have been impressed with the results. Some are even considering doing something similar to their own “standard” vehicles.

So, I've got a car which looks distinctive but is very good for my daily commute - hopefully the best of both worlds.

Looks good! You have been a busy mod-er!! Love the wheels and the rear window spoiler looks the biz! My only opinion is that the grille looks too chrome! Would look ace with a black grille to finish off the 'tough' look!

That is distinctive and looks really good overall.......not sure if the rear spoiler is a bit too large but the car does look good. Nice one.

How do you like the sports steering wheel? One of my favourite wheels, great for smaller hands lol.

Looks good. Was it a dealer on ebay, you bought the blacklines from and are they replicas or genuine? I'm looking for some at the mitute but a lot of them are from abroad.

I bought them from a German supplier on eBay for about £200 - I think they were OEM spec

Great thread and a aggressively modded E90 which is cool. iF your half young you will pull it off easy.

PICS ARE TOO BIG, making the thread hard to use. Use photobucket to host them.

Do you have DPF?

also how much in total?
