I wouldn't be surprised if there is another wave of fuel protests, led primarily by the haulage industry. I still cannot believe that there is no utterance from 'Darling' at the Treasury. He must be going to sleep each night with a hard on thinking of the extra revenue coming his way! (sorry to be so base - needs must! - I suspect that is the sort of thing to get his Scottish interests aroused!)

Well put Peter, I was expecting more haulage protests, strange there haven't been any. Threats by HM Gov. perhaps? As for the Treasury, got an email on Friday at work, our pay rise for this year is still not sorted, waiting for the Treasury. Looks like January at the earliest Meanwhile how much extra revenue is the Treasury retaining/getting by not paying us & tax from fuel hikes.

Rant over.

I'm hoping that the hauliers are going to act fairly soon,it seems to be the only effective form of protest us Brits can come up with.
It certainly had Whitehall sitting up & taking notice the last time it happened and seemed to have them running around like blue arsed flies.

The trouble with us Brits in terms of complaining is that we are too complacent, although we are very good at forming queues in which to protest.

Helen, sorry to hear about your hard times, would you like a sub,Peter has one!

The problem is I think a lot of the Haulage labour is now Polish so as long as they are getting their £6.00 an hour the don't give a monkeys bum.

If anyone is worried about the price of diesel I recommend that they get a proper petrol engined vehicle.

For me diesel is 105p and petrol is about 95p, the price difference just about negates the better economy acheieved by the deisel!!!

Cant wait for the 6.2 litres ill save a fortune

They may also lack public support this time due to the 'environment' issue and cars being bad for the environment.

no one really cares enough

I work for a government body EA and we was advised our mileage was 500k plus in our region and IT MUST BE REDUCED ,but i see no effort at all to reduce this every body just carries on without a care in the world ,people are paid to commute 50 miles in company funded motors for what i see as nonsense but i also realise it wont change .so what are we to do ????????????????
