HPFP replacement replacement costs $849 under warranty?
So my HPFP failed on Saturday, codes confirmed with Carly, so I had it towed to the dealer. They wouldn't replace it without first replacing the low pressure sensor and seeing if that solved the problem, to the tune of $849. I argued and they said it's BMW's policy to first replace the low pressure sensor.
They did, and sure enough tests condemned the high pressure fuel pump. It seems like BS that I need to pay $849 for a warranty repair. Has everybody been charged this? |

When I took mine in for a leaking injector, they did the HPFP first (of course that didn't fix the problem). Luckily I had secondary coverage with a 3rd party extended warranty.
$850 is at least worth raising a little hell. |

At the time of the HPFP recall height, BMW announced that it will extend the emissions warranty coverage period to 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first, on affected vehicles in all 50 States. And if the HPFP fails during that extended warranty coverage period, BMW will replace it with a newer-production version at no cost. If your car already has more than 120,000 miles on it then it would not have covered it and therefore you are charged $849 for the repair.

Yeah, I saw in some other threads that it's common to have to do the sensor first
