Bmwhat app (Carly for BMW)
Have anyone tried it? It lets you read error codes and code your car with ease through your phone. I know there is a free version to try but I don't have my car with me atm

This is for the Android version, I can't speak about the iPhone version.
My buddy has the app, It's a good little tool. It can detect the BMW specific codes when apps like torque can't. I used it to code some features on my car, Roll up windows with lock button, Change blinker speed and blinks. That's about it. As for if its worth it, That's all up to you. If you are planing on using it all the time or on multiple cars I would recommend it so you don't need to haul your laptop around all the time. But if it's just like a ehh I'll use it every once in a while just to do a checkup then I'd hold off and just use your laptop. But it's all bout convenience, If that's worth the $50 then go for it by all means. Also on a side note, The developer is always pushing out updates around every week or so. Support it also good from what I hear.

I'll get a hold of him and take a video and some screenshots of the available options. Edit: I've just spoke with him and He is available tonight so I'll shoot over there sometime tonight and I'll have the pics and video up by tomorrow morning some time. I'll update this post with the video and screenshots.

Hey Hey, Good news. He happened to stop bye for some lunch and I got that video done for ya! If you would like more videos let me know, He's a cool guy and we barbecue all the time together so he doesn't mind at all.
Note that not all options may work on your vehicle but they are still there, IE. Auto eject fob when car is shut off doesn't work for me, Nether does auto unlock doors. I think that is just because of my early model e90 though (06') I see you have an e92 so I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here and say most of them would work for you. There is even a quick coding example in the video at around 2:30(I've also coded the digital spedo and realtime digital MPG a few months back and they have stuck no problem.), I recorded it in HD so you can go full screen and pause the video to read all the options. I did cut out when it was reading from the ECU as I didn't want you to have to sit and watching a progress bar for a minute lol. Here is the link in case the embed doesn't work. [u2b]www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYb6yJeAlz0[/u2b] Feel free to let me know if you need anything else. Mike

the ELM327 works fine with iPhone, have one as well but I have noticed that the connection works the best if you turn the phone into the airplane mode then turn the wifi on (helps if you are away from your home wifi as well) and do the error reading and coding. If you don't then you have the risk of loosing the connection while reading codes or programming (but don't worry, back up file is created first before any codes are changed). Not sure how others experienced that with iPhone but that is my personal preference.
Coding is limited to what options they allow you to code, it is pick and choose and not like with NCS Expert. But it works . The list of coding options are posted on their web site. I bough it for error reading and it works great, coding came as a bonus |

Yeah, You need an OTG cable aswell about $4 for that. Here is what I bought (The cheapest, Just ignore the title. It works with all androids, I'm using the galaxy note) Link to the item
So what you do is plug the otg cable into the phone then the wired dcan cable into the otg cable, With the other end in the obd port..
