First BMW E92 --BSW-- Stage 1 Audio Upgrade

First off, I'd like to thank Jason @ BSW West for this awesome upgraded sound system. Jason has opened up a West Coast BSW for all West Coast needs. BSW was originally located in Atlanta, Georgia, but has expanded operations to the West in San Diego, CA and I am honored to have been his first production vehicle to receive the E92 Logic7 Stage 1 Audio Upgrade system.

What the Stage 1 comes with:

- 4 BSW 25mm Silk Dome Tweeters.
- 7 BSW 100mm Midrange Tweeters.

The difference between my Stage 1 compared to everyone elses when they finally are off preorder and ship is that my Stage 1 come with a chrome wrong around the tweeters. I'm sorry my E92 is currently in the shop for HPFP issues, but once I get her back I can take a picture to show the difference from what is shown on the BSW website, to what I have currently installed by Jason@BSW.

What is so special about these upgraded Tweeters is how unbelievably clear and distortion free my audio is in my E92. Before, playing music in my car was nothing special, but when you hear the clarity and accuracy of the music from these new tweeters, you'll understand how great these really are. The louder you crank up the volume, the more you'll realize that these new tweeters mean business because you don't lose any clarity as the volume goes up, they continue to provide high quality sound!!!!

These do require a proper break-in period of around 20 or so hours; I believe that is what Jason stated. They're just like my AKG K701 studio headphones, breaking them in and allowing them to play over time will only make the sound even more "full" and "clean" What I mean by that is that the longer the Tweeters play their tunes, the more you'll hear and feel the bass, lose the slight initial echo and hear everything there is in an artists song. Absolute greatness....

I really am impressed by this BSW Stage 1 and it should definitely be on everyone's list of future upgrades for their E92 Logic7 or HiFi.

Jason did not adjust my EQ much since he said that adding + to the 1k and 2k will only add more noise (hiss) to my music via iPod. I figure this is equivalent to turning up the gain on a camcorder or something of that nature.

Jason@BSW is currently working on a PNP Amp that will go in the trunk on the left side where the 6CD changer area is located and it will make this system even more remarkable. Also, he is working on upgrading the subwoofers currently located under the driver and passenger side seats, so once he finishes that, I'll be the first to have that upgrade as well.

Again, thank you BSW for all the effort put into the Stage 1 Audio Upgrade, it is worth all that they are asking for and more. Unbelievable product, customer service, and quality!!!

Sincerely,

John

BTW! For those located in SoCal and are attending the Feb 20th LTBMW meet, if you bring your iPod, I'll let you plug ur iPod into my 6FL and you can hear for yourself how much better your audio will be with the Stage 1

They will, but there's a distinct difference between how the 2 sound. You get more out of these with L7 vs. not.

John, thanks so much for the review! We really appreciate it. Enjoy it when you get your car back!

By the way, this product is currently in stock and shipping for E92 cars with HiFi and Logic7 systems. You can order here:

http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...Series-M3-E92/

A couple of things I want to briefly touch on. The 100mm (4") drivers are midranges -- not tweeters. They play down to around 150Hz so they're where most of the important frequency range (midrange) is coming from.

Second, the upgrade in vehicles without Logic7 is every bit as substantial. The car won't sound as good as one with Logic7 and the Stage 1, but it's still going to sound WAY WAY WAY better than the stock HiFi system. Here's what a 1 Series who went from HiFi to our Stage 1 had to say (it's virtually the same audio system as the E92 w/ HiFi):

How much would this run shipped to 14221?

Also, would I have any problems if I'm already running an amp and some earthquake sws's?

Thanks Micah, if I do end up lemoning my car, sadly the system will have to go back to Jason @ BSW West. Great product for the run I've had on them though! And thank you for the clarification.

If it is still in there by the 20th, you can def hear it out. If not then sadly you'll have to wait until someone else comes around with it.

Since the product will go back to Jason as I've stated these will not be sold by me, but I will always vouch for BSW products for their utmost quality and sound. I don't see why not these speakers would have an issue with another amp and some earthquake sws's. Enjoy

I ordered the kit from BSW last week and UPS is delivering it tomorrow. I have no affiliation or vested interest, I just wanted a plug and play solution.

I'm very picky with audio and think the stock L7 sounds like crap, to the point that I took the car back to the dealer thinking something was wrong with it.

I'm installing the kit myself and will post up what I think about it.

I had the Stage 1 in my e90 - SQ was definately improved. Logic 7. Had the sub as well, and it made for an excellent combo.

Haha I installed my L7 stage 1 e92 kit that I got from the preorder last friday night. Unfortunately, after only one minute of driving I slid into a curb and had to come back home with the wheel locked to the right just to go straight (damn snow....)...so far it sounds sick though!

Some vendors will provide products in exchange for an unbiased view. If you perceive his to be biased, perhaps you're right, but perhaps he had nothing negative to say (especially since he's got to give them back).

I am completely unbiased (paid full price, waited for the preorder to finish)

It sounds great. Highs are very sparkly, which is really great. I installed the right side first and then panned left to right and while I really love the stock sound system, the clarity and cooperation at higher volume levels is superb with the bsw setup. I paid around 550 for the kit for my L7 equipped 335xi, and don't regret it.

The real beauty of this kit is also how easy it is to install. I put in a JL stealthbox and dice/specdock integration, along with factory sirius into my e53 x5 (according to the bsw instructions, which were spectacular), and that was about a million times harder than this, and that involved no door panel removal.

We had a one week development session in our San Diego area facility. One of the vehicles was a 1 series, and one was a 3 series. Both people received a Stage 1 kit at no cost in exchange for access to their vehicle and posting an unbiased review of how they think the product sounds. They are not paid or compensated in any way except the product they received.

I'm consistently blown away by how cynical some folks are. Is it REALLY that hard to believe that someone makes a good product and people just love the way it sounds? Especially when that company backs the products with a 100% guarantee and there are literally THOUSANDS of happy customers? Oh well, some people just never believe anything...

Currently on sale, so I'd order ASAP, but depending on your audio system, $419.99 or $589.99. Use the link above to determine your audio system type and price. Shipping is free.

As for your amp, is it just running the subs? If so, yes, our Stage 1 is compatible.

My tweeter looks just like that, and I have a production kit. Maybe they decided to keep it?
