Final finishing touches on the XKR
I sat in a traffic jam tonight behind a silver new shape 07 plate Jaguar XKR 4.2 Coupe. I think this car looks stunning and has a superb road presence.
So with a few minutes behind it I just cannot understand the following final touches that Jaguar put on the car. 1. The Radio Aerial - This is one of those 6 part pop up ones about 4 to 5 feet tall that looks like it's out of a car from the 1980's. It also had a tarnished look to it and was just so out of place on such a nice car. 2. The rear diffuser - this was a black bottom pannel a la BMW M Sport pack. The problem with it was it looked a cheap thin piece of plastic, was badly fitting and about 3rd the depth of the one on a BMW and not worth really adding as the original bumper could of been extended to cover this section. It just looked out of place on this premium car and more the sort of thing on a cheap French / Italian hot hatch. 3. The exhausts - twin's similar in styling to the 335i/d but much smaller and plainer, the plastic around them combined with the bottom pannel above did not fit symetrically around either. I am being picky but after 5 mins behind it in a traffic jam you notice these things. The XKR is a beautiful car but why on earth did they get these simple things so wrong and spoil such a fantastic car?

My mate had enough of his multiple fault XF and just traded it in for a Mondeo until the RS Focus arrives. This was his third Jag and he vows never again. Now Tata have em it can only get worse |

Jags are wonderful cars and very classy in my opinion. My mums not long bought an XKR and there is not one thing I could possibly say is tacky on it.
Jag and tacky just don't go together

I agree with you, the aerial looks terrible... Old skool sierra style.

The aerial was only on the earlier facelift models.
Not on the new ones. D.

I love the look of the new shape XK/R, one of the best looking cars on the road in my opinion. An XK convertible, in dark blue, cream leather, 20" Senta alloys is on my shopping list when they come down to a sensible price (sub £25K),
