Traffic Cops

Anyone see the traffic cops prog on BBC1 this evening (or yesterday now )? There was a bit about a race between a Civic Type R and a Z4 Coupe which ended up with the Civic doing a multiple roll before taking off over a 9 foot (yes NINE) fence and bouncing off the roof of a house and landing in the driveway. UNBELIEVABLE. The guy crawled out relatively unscathed too. Both lost their licenses and were (absolutely rightfully) convicted of dangerous driving.

Funny bit was them finding the parcel shelf of the civic on the roof anda rear headrest over the house in the back garden!!

Yes, I watched it! Could not believe anyone walked out of that civic alive! They reckon he was doing three figure speeds when he took off! Also can't believe he cleared that fence at the front of the property!

I think the police did a good job tracing the BMW driver - scouring the local CCTV footage to find the Civic, and then surprise surprise, there was the BMW behind him!

It was only the anonymous call he made to the ambulance service that proved he was at the scene in the end. I really thought they were both gonna get away with it, especially with the civic drivers 'amnesia'

They both took that line. Of staying silent.

But the fact your mangled car has bounced off someone's roof and is lying on its back after leaping over a 9' fence, and they have telephone records from the BMW driver, who was also spotted by witnesses, phoning an ambulance and earlier caught on CCTV following the Honda was more than enough circumstantial evidence.

The young lad who crashed his SEAT with multiple barrel rolls was also an eye-opener.

I suppose you have to live through a crash to realise you are mortal. Although nowadays cars are built much better than "when I were a lad".

My reading of events was that Z4 driver overtook the Type-R coming out of town; Honda driver takes offence at this and decides to give chase, decides to overtake over a blind crest and lost control.

He must've been doing crazy speeds to come off the road where he did and STILL go over the hedge and hit the roof of the house

Think it speaks volumes that the BMW driver called anonymously; from his own phone. I think he clearly knew straight away that he might get done for death by dangerous driving if he hung around.

Lesson really is if someone wants to drive like an idiot, just let them get on with it and best not get involved.
