Yes, it is really a piece of sh!t. Bastuck and Hamann quality blows this out of water. I can't believe people would pay $1600 for exhaust like that . I think Dinan has been failing to make mod products lately...couldn't even come up with any chip or engine mod for E90.

Thanks for posting the clip. After viewing the clip, it appears to me the red e90 is a manual car (and seems to drive great too). I do like the way it sounds. I wish to hear more of the exhaust from outside at idle. The first part of the clip gave me an idea what it sounds like at idle but there were too many other background noises (like the m3 and other cars driving by).

Does it really matter how it looks as long as it performs. According to Jeff at Dinan what matters is the technology inside the muffler.

So that's where they've been hiding their ECU upgrade! It's embedded in the exhaust! Them Dinan peeps 'shur ar smarte!

It's a muffler for Christ's sake...exactly what kind of 'technology' could possibly be in there? A missing flap here, a hollowed-out chamber there...come on people!

What I'm trying to say is do you want something that looks nice but does not perform I was there on Saturday and that exhaust sounds really good.

I totally agree. What I appreciate about what Dinan, is that they are the only company to date that has made scientific disclosures about their products, and they are methodical. They are local, so information is more forthcoming with the reps, techs and even Steve Dinan.

I don't have to speak German and call long distance for my technical questions.

Understood. What I'm trying to say is, what's the reason why they can't take a couple of minutes to make it look good too? Is there a reason why it can't look nice and perform? They're not mutually exclusive to me.

I think an aftermarket company should purchase one of these, open her up to see what's inside, and sell replicas for 1/4 of the price.
I mean it's a pipe...there couldn't possibly be any trade secrets involved.

I'd probably buy it, but not for $1600.

thanks for the video, make me wanna go out and buy a digi vid cam just so I can record my ultimate driving experience. I could watch this vid over and over and over and still get a big grin every time.

Sorry, the 1600 stays in my wallet for now.

Look it may sound great and all, but for $1600 + installation I'd like something that does not look like it was made in someone’s basement. I mean seriously, would any of you market something that looked like that? Not every BMW owner is a savvy mechanic that can see through the outward appearance of a product and focus on the end result. Most of us are looking at both, and many customers may go with a different company because of this. The whopping 6hp gain is not really a deciding factor for me.

This is absolutely ludicrous. Why on earth would you spend that amount of money for something so simple to make. Look, its pipes and a muffler. That is all. It's not made of a special material and there obviously no post manufacturing processes such as coatings or polishing. It doesn't make the car that much faster if at all. This is partly responsible for why BMW aftermarket parts are relatively SOOO expensive. Companies charge high prices because ignorant people are willing to give them what they ask. For any vehicle made in Japan, you could get a similar product for under 1000 bucks. Are any of you willing to pay a grand more because...uh its Dinan...IT SOUNDS GOOD?!...Is that all people care about? If sound is all you care about then there are WAY cheaper ways to get a similar sound, believe me. You just have to research your possiblities. Please do yourself a favor and do not over complicate what you are buying or buy into the IDEA that this is a superior product. It's all bullshit. I've been in enough circles to see what REAL quality versus price is and this is horribly low. Before you think that this is coming way out of left field and I don't know what I'm talking about, let me say that I do understand that things cost more when they are produced in fewer quantity. OBVIOUSLY but this doesn't mean that you should be raped of probably over 500 bucks what this exhaust should be worth in this market. Just say no to companies that only think economically and not in the interest of the consumer. (I know this will annoy some of you and this will seem like a crazy man is writing all this but you have to understand that I am very eager to see a change in this market. No more uber expensive parts that are no better than the shit people buy for their civics at twice the cost. Too many people blindly throw money around for stupid shit that doesn't do anything). I'm done, I apologize to those who read this and are affended if there are any.

I also want to add that I am not pointing fingers at anyone here, just making a point that I think many people that posted agree with.

yea, it looks like dog dodo, like all their exhausts. but as was said, they're all hand made in their facility in morgan hill, ca. and if it's like their other exhausts, it should sound real nice.

that said, i don't think i could dump that much $ for an exhaust.

About the looks of it, I realize that a premium price should gather a premium product in every way. But in the past I went through several Magnaflow mufflers and resonators among my cars, some of them had a mirror finish and some looked like sh!t out of the box but they all end up looking like the latter down the line anyway, unless you tow your car around in an enclosed trailer. So the way I see it, if it works well, if the part that's visible while the car is on the road looks good, then I'm fine with it. Just my two cents.
