Shiv's opinion was that little could be had with an intake mod, but this may be prooven wrong as time goes by.

does it really matter with a turbo car? colder air would just get heated again, and the little bit of less restriction probably wouldnt make a diffrence since its like an afterthought to those turbos, any other reason for an intake?

an intake will be $400-800 and give you little is any gains. Or you could buy a chip from vishnu for about $900 and get over 50hp. Why would you want an intake?

Wrong subforum to put this in..
And like folks stated, turbo'd cars generally don't benefit from aftermarket intakes unless they are on a bigger turbo which needs more airflow.

Another reason would be for SOUND. I love the sound of a less restrictive intake system. If there was any way to get more induction sound I would be all over it, even if performance gains were minimal to none.

I think K&N has the rights over the Drop in Filter. I am waiting for it, maybe I can post some dyno graphs when it comes out to see if it makes any gains. However, if there is another airfilter (Cold Air Intake), I would be willing to see how many Hp for the BUCK.

Intakes help the car breathe. They are beneficial when u add more and more mods.

I took off the air filter cover just to look around, and DAMN!!! the air inlet past the filter to the intake is very small!!! maybe it might help to have a re-designed air box.

Yea. The sound of an intake on turbo cars is really nice if you enjoy the whistles and wooshes. But just as everyone above has stated, the intake is gunna cost allot of money for what it has to offer. Looks and sounds pretty but with the stock engine setup there's really no point. I can see intakes becomes more common once the aftermarket support for the 335 really picks up later on down the road but not for now.

I'll look at the air box next week when I'm home and see what can be improved on it. Chances are if I don't like what I see, I'll fabricate my own airbox and just get the same huge K&N I have on the M to go with it. K&N....... Yea...K&N!

Pop the cover.....you will be surprised on how small the opening is for filtered air to enter the intake!!!!! Esp. for a forced-induction engine

I think that I read that both of the turbos combined flow less than 700cfm. If that is the case, that is not a lot of airflow. Reducing restrictions in the air box, intake, etc. may not have much impact if the turbos are the restrictive point. The small turbos are likely the reason that our horsepower drops like a rock above 6000 rpms as well.

It will be really interesting over the next year as people play with the cars to find out where the bottleneck is located.

700 CFM......even for 2 small turbos...that just seems a low number. I have only seen a PSI rating....nothing about flow.

In some other thread I started I brought up how restrictive some of the pancake piping looked. Like pinches in the turbo plumbing. Intercooler pipes, etc... Samco needs to come out with some Silicon kit that we could just replace the restrictive plastic peices with. That should free up some flow. Hopefully Samco can make a matte-black sort of color for the pipes. I hate that bright blue or red crap in the engine bay.

I'll get the girlfriend to doit. Tiny hands! This is a very useful tool indeed. I remember e-mailing Samco telling them to get a kit out for 335's because I have a feeling that people are gunna like the idea once someone can show them what it can do for them.

Unlike N/A cars, intakes do very little for turbo'd cars.

what ignorance. You can choke down a high hp car with intake restriction regardless whether it's turbo or NA.
