What is the holdup with MHD's Bluetooth support?

Im sitting here trying to cobble together some sort of always powered display for MHD gauges and getting frustrated with the lack up bluetooth from mhd. Ive subscribed to threads that discuss this but there have been no update's in some time. Whats the hold up? is there anything the community can do to help with development? are we on the cusp of BT and im crying for nothing?
BTW, love MHD!, hate the cable that trys to kill me.
Sincerely, this guy.

probably mainly time and resources. he could help make a bluetooth adapter or finish his f series flasher.

you can probably guess which will make him more money.

you'll probably start seeing more bluetooth development after they finish there f series flasher

I use some Velcro under the kick panel to control my cable instead of routing it over the steering column.
Cable offers less latency than BT

the latency wouldn't be noticeable. Im trying to mount my tablet without switching cables just to charge. The only solution i can think of is to add a micro USB port directly to my tablets battery leads. The only reason why i haven't already is im not sure if it will backfeed power to my OBDII port.

If you have a compatible device you can use a wireless charging mat/Qi charger.

Exactly what I did, mounted a wireless charger to the back of my tablet mount. Only problem was that it wont wirelessly charge a Nexus7 if the data cable is plugged in at the same time, but does make it easier to charge when not reading data.

That is really annoying. I really want to mount a tablet 24/7 but I want it to charge and have live gauges etc. There has got to be an easy way...I mean it is just software...I assuma custom jail breaked OS would fix this.

Speaking of tablet charging, anyone find a way to get fast charge type power? I have my cable routed into the center console and plugged into Quick Charge 3.0 and it still loses battery power while on full time when driving.

MHD will have a wifi adapter, not BT, and there was issues with a manufacturer but they have a new one and it is in the testing phase now, should be released soon enough.

I use the JB4 BT connect kit to my iPhone and there is no noticeable latency, it's actually very impressive.

I had a member contact me who had an extra tablet that supports 2 USB ports on one device. I remember looking for this last year with no luck, i may have been searching the wrong keywords, but they can be found now.

Finding an Android tablet with dual USB ports isn't difficult, the tricky part is finding one that's smaller than 10".

A while back when tablets as head units became a thing, the Nexus 7 was a popular choice and custom kernels were written for it to support all sorts of things.

USB 2.0/3.0 specification do not make provision for simultaneus OTG function and charging. Official solution supported by a standard is already there in the form of a new USB Type-C port or so they say...I am skeptical of it working.

Can you link me to a decent one with dual ports so I can charge with one and have gauges with another? Or a single if USB Type C actually works?

I am fine with 10'' or larger, I want to be able to see my gauges with a quick glance.

you can probably just use this adapter

but i'm not sure if the new versions of android support otg and charging at the same time.

i know on the older android versions you needed to root it and have a modified rom that supported it.

The USB spec limitation is why a custom kernel was written for the Nexus 7 years ago.

I just googled "Android tablet dual USB" and several came up, mainly the Acer Iconia. I didn't search long.

I wasn't able to charge with an OTG cable along with a USB to analog/optical adapter using USB C on my Pixel phone, so I'm skeptical of it, as well.

I can confirm that the lg g pad x will infact charge with micro USB while simultaneously using standard USB to communicate with MHD.
Now to work out a mounting solution. I've also purchased 90* ended USB cables.

Is there a better way to place the OBD cable as it’s really easy to kick out

Nice! Thanks for the link, I’m picking that up. Any chance you have a pic how that all looks when plugged in and routed?
