VTT upgraded PCV valve install question

While doing the valve cover gasket I also decided to upgrade to Vargas Technologies PCV valve but I am having some fitment issues. ≈

Here is OEM one on top and VTT at bottom

OEM sits nice and flush inside the cap

But VTT one does not.

Do I need to trim the 4x tabs on the cap? I’m hesitant to do any permanent modifications and wanted to seek opinions. I did do a search and didn’t get any hits and apologize if this has been discussed before. Thanks

All upgraded PCV valves are this way. Put the PCV valve in first and then screw the cap on.

Typically you need to file the 4 tabs down on the cover. Depends on the PCV valve and what company makes it

Thanks everyone, just a very minor trimming is all it took. Btw, the original PCV valve was gone at 80k miles
