Here's a pre turbine pressure gauge in TestO. This is a fantastic tool. I still wish the sampling rate were faster, but I'll take the extra data for now. Our special guest is going to get an appeciative Paypal donation for this!

Excellent! Would you describe the process/steps to get TestO to see/measure/log this parameter?

You realize we can now really compare various remaps?! This would be a cool thing to bring to the 335d dyno event in Pine Grove, PA. |

TestO - getting custom jobs
Here's how to find the DDE parameters:
The last item under the Debug Menu is 'Custom Jobs'. That will bring up a window with the title 'Form'. Select the ECU D73N57C0 and one of the 'Custom Values'. The "Jobname" is "STATUS_MESSWERTBLOCK_LESEN". On the bottom right, there is a button called 'Table'. Click 'Table' and within the 'Table' window scroll through the menu selection box in the upper right. Find 'MESSWERTETAB' and select it. There are over 1300 items in that table. For example, the image below shows 2 highlighted items that are associated with exhaust pressure before the turbos. The 3rd column is the "resultname". We use this and jobname for gauges, graphs, data logging, etc. I'll explain that in another post shortly. Last edited by DWR; 01-28-2015 at 12:45 PM.. |

I have it on good authority that creating these custom jobs maximizes the sampling rate and sync of the data. From the source ...
"Generally, the fastest way for data logging multiple data points or values is to use 'custom jobs' with specific parameters. The ecu gives data with all the data in one response compared to ediabas "standard jobs" that fetch only one value at a time. Standard jobs are executed one after another so it's easy to understand that is slower..." |

That was very helpful! Thank you.
Think I'll make a new Custom job with the specific things I'm interested in ... and share the data of course :-)

I can see there's a lot going on here what comes to tuning bmw diesels :-) and full of talented persons too. I'm not a diesel expert myself and don't even own a diesel but I might buy one some day just to see how TestO works with "custom jobs". Haha.. Last edited by pheno; 01-28-2015 at 03:35 PM.. |

So, I tried the Debug -> Custom Jobs ... and it crashes the software everytime. I must have something setup wrong. Would running this on a Windows 8 machine be the cause? Or is there something else I should be doing before doing the Debug -> Custom Jobs?

Meaning, just selecting Custom Jobs makes it crash?

Yup. Tried it multiple times, same result. Windows 8 OS comes up and says the program is not responding ... and then the program times out and has to close.
Interesting that all the available "jobs" from the Custom #1-3 work fine, and every other jobs I've looked at also work. This is the first issue I've had with the program. Otherwise it's been FANTASTIC! And I'm inclined to think it's something odd with my setup ...

Just want to greet our special guest from Finland, too:
Welcome pheno! We really appreciate your Test-O tool and taking the time to help us out here. And I must say. Derek, for someone who hasn't done much with D-CAN diagnostics up to a couple of weeks ago, you're accelerating pretty fast! Well done! Michael |

Try putting the attached file in your Jobs > Custom Jobs folder. You should get an "RPM, Air & Fuel" along with the other custom values. Remember to remove the .txt from the file name. Let me know if that works. |

I see the "RPM, AIR&FUEL" in the Jobs list now. I didn't see the drive pressure "ASMod" ones (looks like ASSMod ... can't help but think of the Seinfeld "ASSMAN" episode when I read that...) at first, but then noticed you had put them in Custom values #1. Hopefully if the weather holds I'll get some data tomorrow on the drive home from work.

In case you haven't found out .. it's possible to switch between text/gauges by clicking mouse or space key..
View post on imgur.com Also there's multi-plot window which draws selected curves on the same graph window. It's not fully ready yet but seems to work ok so far - until someone else really starts using it . Labels for curve names are missing for example and scaling ignores negative values. First you have to have a job running. I suggest using custom jobs because the refresh speed of values is much faster that individual jobs.. Then open File->Multi plot window (or Function F2). Click on toolbox icon or just double-click on the window. Select results, press OK. Y-axis multiplier can be ignored. There's no save function and it's meant to be 'read only'. Of course I can add some export function if you wish. It's possible to open several multi-plot windows to monitor different values on each window. |
