help chasing fault code P0611 on 335d
I have a 2011 335d that is having some issues. In the past it has had some issues where the car would throw the P0087 code for low rail pressure when driving aggressively. Sometimes it would kill the motor, but when you restarted the car there were no issues. The car would run fine until it threw the fault again intermittently. It only really happened when driving aggressively.
So yesterday I was having a little fun. While accelerating hard the car stumbled, started running really rough, and eventually died. I immediately tried to restart it but it would just crank and not fire. I waited a minute or two and tried again and it fired up but ran very rough like it was missing on a few cylinders. I put it in D and tried to move the car but it would barely run...sputtered and bucked and just wouldn't go anywhere and eventually died. I went through this process repeatedly and was able to limp it home. I let the car sit for an hour or two then tried to start it again. It fired up but ran poorly. After a few minutes it seemed to clear up and ran close to normal. I shut it off and let it be for another few hours. I then started it back up and it seemed to run as normal with no issues. That's where I left it. I pulled the codes and the only code was P0611 "Fuel Injector Control Module Performance". What do I need to start looking into with that code? Isn't the injection control part of the DDE? The issues definitely seem fuel related. Have I dropped an injector or two? I thought there would be more codes if it was an injector. Just looking for a little guidance. My car is fully deleted and tuned with 104K miles Thanks! |

Do you have some BMW specific tools to pull BMW codes. Fuel system is my most hated to diagnose. There are so many things that could affect it and they are all interrelated. Start with bmw specific code then with specific diagnostics to eliminate system components one by one.

You had your battery disconnected at 165,880.
Your 4BD9 is an electrical fault for injector 6. Unless your plug or wiring is not seated or compromised This means your #6 is going out. Any water damage? 335d usually does not get water issues. Your rain trays in place. Not cracked. Never washed your motor, I hope. Before you go and run to get a new injector. Test resistance between injector pins. Should be 182kOhm plus/minus 10kOhm. Also zero between each pin to injector body. Just make sure body has good contact. Also resistance between pins should be stable. Report back please. |

I can get the rest of the codes pulled. I unfortunately lost the laptop that had all the software on it so having to redo everything before I can hook it up. Thanks! |

Does the injector need to be out of the head to test the resistance? I’m not getting a reading on any of the injectors. I know my meter is good...tested on several other items like a fuel injector out of my Mustang.

You don’t need to pull the injectors. But you do need to remove the manifold to be able to unplug the connectors and reach the pins. I would focus on the rear three. This video might help with the manifold.

Yep I have the manifold off. I’m not getting a reading on any of the injectors. Not sure what I’m missing since I can get a reading on some old injectors out of my mustang.

You need to clear all codes first and then see what comes back. With undervoltage issues there a many troublecodes set that don't necessarily point to a problem. Clear all, read again immediately after and then after a few miles of driving.
