Also curious about this. Previous commenters have gotten 2017+ Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Challenger, BMW 430i..

I have been having this problem for months. Havent been able to have people in my car due to the stench that comes through the ac . I have noticed smoke coming from under my hood before and I just blamed it on an assumed oil leak, but now I realize its most likely the issue this recall covers.

Again, thank you to all e90post contributors, great community!

PS: Am I the only one that's slightly excited to get a much newer rental car to replace my 12 year old car?
lol maybe just for a few weeks. After that I will start missing my e90...

Honestly, the only loaners i'd consider are other German or Jap luxury brands.

Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus only! If they're gonna give me some American made piece of shit econobox like a Ford fusion, Jeeps, chevy malibus, etc...I'd rather drive my E90 and burn to death than drive one of those.

I don't consider Acuras and Infiniti "luxury" in the same tier as Audi/BMW/Mercedes. They build quality is just not up there. Lexus is the only one that can truly go head to head with the germans in terms of build quality, fit & finish, etc.

Have you been in a new BMW recently? I am in my 5th week with a $55k 430i loaner, hard cheap plastic everywhere. The build quality and the way it drives is no better than a new Accord. In fact, my 7 seats 2016 MDX with SHAWD handles better and more fun to drive than the 430i.

I sat in the BMW i8 and couldn't believe the asking price. the quality is just not there with all the cheap plastic inside. in fact, even Tesla S looks more luxury.

I gave back that piece of shit jeep Wrangler. It's the worst car I ever drove in my life !!! 14-15mpg slow as f...!!! Feels cold inside and cheap plastic was all over. I switched to 2018 Nissan Sentra and I'm more happy than before in that US army tank !

Recall parts were installed last Friday & turned in the F32 Msport as well.

My advisor told me that my car was the 2nd car to have the recall completed at BMW of SA.

From start to finish the entire process for the blower recall took ~35 days, and was easy & painless.

The airbag recall via BMW of SA was quick/easy/painless as well. Can't give them enough credit for efficiency and great communication.

I had this performed out of pocket because my blower motor stopped working. I did it at an independent shop as my car was out of warranty. I haven't received the letter yet.

Do I have any recourse on this? Gotta see if I can find a receipt for the work.

First, verify your specific VIN falls under the recall:
https://www.bmwusa.com/safety-recalls.html
If it is then call BMW USA and figure out why you weren't notified and go from there. If it isn't then I would guess your motor just died of natural causes.

BTW, I smelled the burning plastic this AM and knew it was from inside the cabin since I had the HVAC on recirc (due to how bad the southeast bay area near 237/880 smells with turd recycling, garbage dumps, etc).

Blower motor also started speeding up and slowing down on its own due to the increased resistance of the wiring/connector, so I knew it was time to get that free rental. Will report back on that process if anything goes weird, but in the meantime the dealership had me sign a 'dont drive it promise' and told me to park the car outside the house till the parts come in.

Well I dropped my car off at the dealer on Feb 5th. Got the email and a call today that said my car was ready. Invoice shows the same as most others. Harness and regulator replacement. Pick it up tomorrow.

Dropped mine of on the 24th of January, and haven’t heard anything since. I assume since I live in a smaller town, the parts will probably take longer, especially considering they are doing all three recalls at once. Who knows how long I will have to wait. No word on how they are coming along, but I did receive a few emails wanting to hear about my experience with my recent service visit, so I find that kind of funny.

Surprised to hear about the cars others have gotten. Service advisor told me that BMW NA will only pay $40 a day and the nearest enterprise lot doesn't have anything within a whiff of luxury. Ended up with a Ford Escape.

Dropped off my car at Reading BMW yesterday (really dislike Faulkner BMW, worth the extra 30 minute drive)

They Gave me a 330i wagon loaner from their lot. Thinking the part can be here by the end of the week.

Will update once recall service is completed

Just thought I'd share my experience, took my car in to bmw of silver spring about 3 weeks ago now. My SA was pretty cool, just had me sign a letter saying that I would park my car, they sent me over to enterprise who put me in a fusion. Called a day later to see if I there was something else I could get and they put me in a 2017 mustang eco-boost that had just come in, told them I would take it. It'll do until the parts come in for my bmw.

Till this day they still waiting for the parts. I really don't know how they gonna make money back from that recall lol

I've had a rental 2017 x3 since Jan 15th. Called yesterday to see if there was any update and a SA just said no-bmw na deosn't give us an estimate. I'm really starting to miss driving my 325. And we are moving into boston soon so parking 2 cars is going to be a nightmare.
