Replacement Spare Key e91

Hi,

It appears I have lost my spare key and as I’m looking to sell the car thought I’d get a replacement. Bmw want a silly amount for a replacement, found a few companies online that say I can send the key and CAS module....

Has anyone done this?, is there any issues pulling the CAS module out?

Thanks

BMW don't want silly money unless you have comfort access.

I got a new key for my E92 direct from BMW when I purchased it a year ago and it cost me £175.

Most places were not charging much less than that anyway.

When I looked into it, to make a new key using the CAS module, the programmer was required to solder wires onto the board. It all seemed a bit retro for my liking and I'm usually pretty happy with this stuff.

Up to you. Have you thought about just not bothering and selling it with one key.

I did think about selling with one key, I’d just imagine people would use it to bargain £200 off the price! . I suppose if someone causes a fuss I’ll just knock them £100 off ....

I’ve just contacted the company to confirm if anything is modified in the CAS unit. They didn’t mention it when I spoke to them ....

I didn't think it was worth the risk either. I really don't think the spare keys from BMW are that bad value to be honest.

Still have the option to sell with one key.
