Efficient Dynamics?

Could somebody shed some light on when this came in please? I think my 330d e92 is about to be written off (van rolled into it while on a driveway) and i'd like to replace it with a similar model.

I had an 09 model with the N57 engine, pre-lci. It returned acceptable MPG but i was hoping for a little more to be honest. It struggled to average 40 in everyday use and got around 45 on a long run. Do the lci models have efficient dynamics and return any better mpg? Other than that it was a great car, it only lasted 2 months before being hit by the van

Some marketing hype that might get a percent or two more out
of the car by making things more complicated and harder to repair
by a factor of 10.

This and you’re on a US forum where 99.9% of the knowledge is gas specific. BMW offered one diesel model here, the 335d.

We know nothing about the 330d.

I thought the bulk of the 'efficient dynamics' efficiency gains were from the use of electric power steering, engine shutoff when stopped, and minimizing load on the alternator (trying to mostly charge the battery when decelerating).

efficient dynamics is a marketing term that has no meaning. Ignore.

EfficientDynamics is a blanket term applied to practically all of BMW’s fuel-saving design efforts/features. It’s BMW’s way of honeydicking its customers into believing their cars possess some special, proprietary efficiency wizardry not found on any other car.

Oh, here's me thinking it was a specific feature set with a noticable MPG gain!

My 330D (might be getting repaired btw!) had electric power steering i believe, also some blurb about brake energy regeneration. No stop/start though and it was still pre-facelift.

I forget americans miss loads of great european cars. Over here the diesels are more popular than the petrol versions. I'd imagine the 320D being by far the most common model.

That hurts just to watch. The quarter panel needs to be replaced. Its a laborious task and surely costly enough to have your insurance company total it.

If it were me, I'd push for a total. Since the 320d is more common, you could consider replacing. It with another.

That's so true, especially since of the lower spec bmws. I think they'd make a killing selling the 120i.

ED

My E91 08 has ED, stop/start, brake energy recovery, electric steering and the grill flaps stay closed unless engine hot.

I don't think models the year before had these.
