guidance needed for foglight retrofit

hi, I'm in the middle of a retrofit for adding foglight into my 2007 BMW 323i, I've bought the foglight wiring kit as described in this retrofit instruction.

I've managed to follow the retrofit guide to about the point where I routed the wire into the cabin.

the problem is I need to open the footwell module wiring connector, I noticed it's a grey connector with a black plastic cover protecting the wires. it seems the black cover can be slide off somehow. but I'm not sure where to do it or if the wiring will go out of order if I use too much force to attempt to open it
