extended warranty help
ok i just recently bought a 2007 335i used for $30,000. it has 30,000 miles on it and has a year left of factory warranty. i was wondering if its a god idea to extend the factory warranty and how much it would cost.

I know that the BMW gold is $3380 list for 6/100, $3900 for 7/100.
It might be worth it as injectors are 3k, turbos 6.8k. People on this forum have had both replaced under warranty. Would not be pretty to pay out of pocket. |

At what mileage do you typically see the injectors and turbos go out?

You can check AAA. I was just quoted $3800 for 7/100k. Covers pretty much everything mechanical and motor driven like power windows, AC, original sound system etc. the rate changes depending on the deductible you choose. I had this warranty program when I had my VW Passat and it was quite useful. Whenever there was a claim, the dealer would just call the warranty service and get the authorization and the funds directly from them. This warranty also lets you go to any garage/dealer you want.

I recently purchased the EasyCare Total Care warranty that gives me an additional 6 years (up to 09/2015) or until the odo hits 85,000 miles for $1861.00 (with a $100.00 deductible per visit). I had to take my car in for an inspection and I had to buy the warranty before the odo reached 25,000 miles. So, I basically bought an additional 6 years or an additional 60,000 miles of warranty of which the first 19 months or 15,000 miles can be covered under factory warranty or the Easy Care warranty.

Can the gold or plat be transferred to a subsequent owner? If so, is there a holding period, e.g., transfer only allowed if original owner purchased plan at least XX days before sale to subsequent owner?

My car has 47963 miles.. I just dropped 3900 dollars on the 7yr/100k miles BMW Platinum Warranty. I was explained that its a "no hassle" policy unlike the other 3rd party warranties... The guy who sold it to me told me the coverage is just as good as my factory warranty...
