Your only hope is that the NTHSA sees it as a safety issue. BMW has done their part by extending the warranty on the part for 10yr/120k miles. There is no other realistic remedy. good luck.

No doubt this will come across as flaming, but anyone who can not drive a car safely after a power steering failure should not be on the road. To view this otherwise is to believe that everyone's life depends on that one belt driving the power steering pump.
And the same for a loss of power. It happens for all sorts of reasons, and I am not ready to throw people who run out of gas into jail for reckless endangerment. I appreciate the frustration of the N54 owners, but this is not a life and death situation. On the risk scale it certainly is well below using your cell phone while driving and/or munching away on that value meal. |
