[BMW335iSport]

Hey all,

After a couple of months of bliss my car is starting to annoy me, there seems to be a couple of issues which I'm hoping boils down to two sources.

1. DRL no longer turns on when I unlock, option in I-Drive has been checked.
2. When I put the heating on in the mornings it makes a whistling noise that comes and goes depending on revs, this seems to dissapears after driving for a few minutes.
3. Rear defroster not working at all, the light does come on when I press the button.
4. White smoke when idling.
5. Wastegate rattle getting worse and worse.
6. Smell of oil after parking up.

With that all in mind I'm guessing the battery and turbos are on the way out, anything else it could be?

1. DRL no longer turns on when I unlock, option in I-Drive has been checked.

Common issue with the HVAC fan. Either oil the shaft or replace. May or may not fail at any point. Lots of threads on here addressing this issue.
3. Rear defroster not working at all, the light does come on when I press the button.
Check fuse first. Then battery and alternator.
4. White smoke when idling.
How white? could be normal. Could be that you're burning oil/coolant. Turbos may be on their way out. Lots of threads on this topic on here.
5. Wastegate rattle getting worse and worse.
Is it wastegate or exhaust flap. If wastegate, tighten the shaft screw. Lots of detailed info here on how to do that.
6. Smell of oil after parking up.
Valve cover leaking and oil dripping on the exhaust downpipe. Replace gasket or whole cover. Check cover for common crack areas.

Cheers, local indy confirmed that the battery is lower than it should be so getting that replaced very shortly. According to them the DRL and rear window defroster not working are linked to the battery.

Hopefully that's two of the issues sorted.

Sytner will be looking into the rest of the issues ASAP.

Glad to hear it's starting to get sorted out.

Failing battery or alternator can cause quite a bit of unexpected behaviors.
