Anyone here roll their fenders????

So I need to roll my rear fenders a bit. Getting some rubbing which is getting annoying. A few local shops in my area wanted close to 400 bucks to do both sides....and can’t guarantee no paint chipping.

I’m contemplating buying the tool/kit and doing it myself. Save a bunch of money. So....my question to you all, is it worth it for me to try it? Or just get a “pro” to do it?

I watched Bimmettes video, and looked up a few threads. But wanted some more recent feed back. Thanks

If you trust the shop, let them do it. That said, $400 is insane without a guarantee. $200 is more reasonable. It isn't easy, but is possible to do yourself. It's definitely a skill though and improves with practice. It takes way more effort to get them to "bend" than you might think. Obviously the tip is to use that perfect amount of heat as to soften the paint without burning it.

Buy wheels and tires that fit and you don't have to roll anything.

The definition of "fit" varies widely, if you haven't noticed.

I thought 400 was crazy also, 200 I wouldn’t really have an issue with especially if it was a place that knows what they are doing. If anyone has a recommendation in the Tampa area feel free.

I’ve done alot on my car but this would be uncharted territory.

I've done two, just get a heat gun and heat the paint if you care about it. Mine are rolled quite a bit for 18x10s +25et with a 275 tire. If you were near central il, a buddy does them for 50 bucks and is very good at it. Its not that hard to do.

Yeah $200 is more realistic. But u can buy the roller on fleabay and do it urself.....its not hard...just take ur time. Buy a digital thermometer so u know for sure u are not overheating the paint..... or to make sure it's hot enough to roll. Watch a few videos on YouTube and ull get the idea. The infrared thermometer isn't necessary but it gives u a guide on how hot it should be. Basically keep the surface hot enough to hold ur hand on for a second or 2.... but not enough to burn you. Again if u attempt it.... take ur time and it will be sound as a pound and no flaking paint. Think the temp is around 120👌

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I’m going to research a few more shops then decide. Hopefully I can find one that doesn’t charge a fortune! If I can’t then it will be a DIY.

FWIW I paid a friend of a friend $50 or $75, can't remember, to roll my fenders on my 350Z. This was about 8 years ago. Here in AL there aren't really any other options, and back then buying your own roller cost way more than it does now. He had done a few cars and had his own roller. We used heat but he still managed to create a very small crack on the back-side of one of the fenders. Luckily I just put some touch-up paint on the scratch to seal and hold it and it never spread or gave me any trouble. The point of this post is to say that yeah, it's not that easy if you're OCD and particular like me. That said, I see so many damn bacon fenders these days, it seems like most don't care about a tiny crack, etc. To each his own.. except for bacon fenders. Gross.

keep in mind your front fenders are plastic... fucking BMW, lol.

take it to somebody who knows what they're doing, or don't do it at all. I doubt any of these people posting have experience rolling anything but steel fenders.

E92s are plastic. I found out when my 18x10s self clearanced. E90s are metal. I cant speak on 91s/93s but i think 93s are plastic too as it uses coupe parts. If only you could roll them....

I have a e91, I need just the rears which are metal. I’m running 19’s with a 275 PSS tire. I guess I could do a 265 tire, but my 275s have plenty of life left.

I also thought 400 was ridiculous. When he told me I just gave him this look like “C’mon man I was born yesterday”

****Update**** Did more searching and found a shop near me. (Fitment 41, Venice Florida). Had the fenders rolled today. The kid did a great job! I was definitely impressed, and didn’t over charge me. He did both rears for 75.00!!!! I highly recommend him if you are anywhere in that area. He is on Facebook and Insta. He also does wraps and customization stuff.
