So finally downloaded the NA 2018 maps. There are 5 files. I am going to use winRAR to extract the first one only and from I read the other ones will also become unzipped. After that I just put the first one in my USB drive let it load, when it prompts for the second disc I just delete the first file and put the second one in the usb then plug back into car, and continue till ive done the 5th one. Or is there something else im missing?

Hi, I can't get the file 1b.hex. I Unpack the ZIP file (1b.zip) to empty USB stick and then put the USB stick in the USB port in the glove box, but file 1b.hex was not created.
my car is e90, 2009.05.27 my old navigation system version: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yZF...ew?usp=sharing and USB stick: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jt1...ew?usp=sharing Could you please, suggest where should I search for a solution of the problem. |

Is there a way to extract the 1b.hex file from a E90 with Business Navigation (with MOTION maps)? Since the copie_scr.sh USB method does not work for Business navi.

I believe there is a method of using a usb to ethernet adapter and pulling the file from the CiC using the usb port in the glove box.

X6 (E71) CIC Retrofitted Updated maps 2014 to 2019
Hi..Just wanted to say a THANK YOU to all that helped me by creating the 3 programs needed to update my maps yesterday...The 1b puller and the FSC generator and the Fat32 formatter ..My CIC is retrofitted by me a few years back and it has an emulator to overcome the chassis# differences.. This did not effect the operation of these programs and they worked flawlessly.
The only slight hitch i had is formatting my USB memory card for the maps download , My pc running Windows will not format any thing bigger than 16gb to Fat32 but uses Exfat instead which my car would not read.. So i had to find a program that would format to Fat32 and reload the maps onto it. After that all was good and is working great with real time traffic delays functioning which did not function before.. Very Happy.. |

I figured it out ... had to copy each disk folder to the drive, one at a time, and it identified the disks and asked to update.

Ok, got everything downloaded, pulled the file from the car, generated the code (with, and without, the "lifetime" box checked) and my car says the code is incorrect.
In entered both codes, more than once, double checked, and still says it is wrong. My Car is a 2010, built in 12/2009, and has a hard disk. Am I missing something? |

Just want to thank portalseo for his great post on how to update maps via USB. I was able to successfully update the nav map on my 2009 335i xDrive following his steps. My vehicle build date was Apr 2009 and it was running N.A Premium 2009-1. I was able upgrade to N.A Premium 2018-1. For Jaeger's FSC generator, I tried the lifetime code but failed (no-typo as I double checked), the non-lifetime code worked. For the N.A Premium 2018-1, after unzipping the 5 rar files, I put the 4 extracted folders onto a 32gb usb stick. As someone else mentioned, put the contents of USB_DVD_01 into root of USB and start update. Once it prompts for USB 2, I removed contents of USB_DVD_01 and put USB_DVD_02 files into root, plug back into usb port and NAV map update continued. Couple times the car went to sleep and once press start button, it continued where it paused. Proceeded with folder 3 and 4, once done, it'll prompt for restart. Took about an hour I think with the car parked and plugged into Battery Tender Jr. When I initially checked version on Navigation after update, it was blank which made me nervous but it seems like needed couple mins before it displayed the updated version.

So every time it asks for the next "DVD" you simply replace the USB_DVD_"__" in the root folder?

Do yourself a favor and search for the single disk 2019 file and use that. You insert the USB, start the update, and it does the entire update without making you change sticks. The 2019's are available if you look for them and are patient.
