Help needed with wheels.....
Hi I have recently moved from a 1 series to a brand new 320 d m sport plus. I had some winter wheels for my 1series size 205/50/16.... They were from an E46 shape 3 series.... My question is will they fit my new car?
Please say yes as I have just had them refurbished.... Thanks... |

Hi made a mistake with the size they are 205/55/16... Any help would be great... Some one has mentioned to me that I might need spacers ? If so where do I buy them from?
Thanks...... |

It's not the tyres that are an issue, it'll potentially be the offset of the alloys/steels that are. ET's or offsets tend to be 47(F) and 50(R) on an E46 and 34(F) and 37(R) on an E90.
Brake disc clearance might be an issue too, but just put one on and try it. From the offsets, if I'm correct in my thinking, the E46 wheels may sit inboard slightly, but provided they don't foul anywhere you should be ok. Matt |

As Matt said above, I'd check the 16" wheels will clear the calipers before buying spacers,it would be folly to buy before you try.

Are the brakes that much different in size compared to the ones that were on my 118d M sport.... That was a 60 plate... they dont look that much different in size... I will check once i get home... if they dont fit then some one going to get a fully refubished in anthricite with continental winter tyres that has only done 1000 miles for quite cheap.....Or is there anywhere i could part ex them for ones to fit my new car????? will have to look into it...

Hello. Got a very similar setup in a 318d m sport.
It will definitely fit the rears. Local tyre place says that it should fit tHe fronts as well but I am a bit sceptical about it. I ll test fit them this weekend. Thinking of fitting winters to the rears only. |

I would not advise you to fit winters to the rear of the car... The rear end will get more grip and you could loose the front end.... Have a look on google.. Once you have tried you wheels on your car post on here what the out come is... Thanks... |

Well,
It turns out the 16 inch wheels from an E46 will fit the E90 318 m sport. Clears the front suspension etc and no problems at the rear. They do look small but its only for the winter months. The should fit your 320 so long they clear the front brake discs. Think they are too small for 325 's and above. Fitted four 205/55/16 Bridgestones A001 aroung £80 each and £100 for the alloys on ebay. All weather tyre with a snow flake - categorised as snow tyre in europe. Came recommended by the tyre place. Could not source premium winters for a reasonable price. |

Did any E9x cars come with 205 tyres all round from the factory?
That isn't a lot of rubber in contact with the road for a car of that size and weight, not sure I'd want to do an emergency stop in the wet on 205 tyres all round............. |
