I have a theory that we can add phone mirroring using one of these and wiring the video into the CIC where the multimedia snap in would go
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F262459978188 Will this work ? Does anyone have the specific pins on the CIC i need to wire into?

So the phone cradle need to be modified and the RCA output from the Airplay device need to tap into this modified wiring? Correct? I wish that diagram on post#4 is clear. Honestly, I can't read it. If I have the diagram I will be right on it.

Ok so i thought id make sure that the device works before installing it in the car. Good thing i did. The device operation is quite sketchy to say the least.
I hooked it up to my TV at home and powered it from the USB slot(the device can be powered by 12v as well) I connected to the wifi network it creates with my iPhone 7 and once i do that i can play media and videos on my phone to it by selecting them from the airplay icon within the respective apps. (Spotify, my videos etc)If i try to mirror however, i cant find the device. I then tried an old iPhone 4s and the streaming and mirroring works. Looks like an incompatibility with the later version of iOS... the device may need an update. Next i grabbed my android tab that i use for flashing and logging. COnnect to the wifi ok - mirroring no. I tried to update the firmware for the device from the menu but no cigar. It finds a later version and attempts the download but wont go any further. Ill try updating android and via another method for the device before i send it back... its a shame too the device seems responsive and seems to do what it supposed to ..

Update
This morning I tried it all again and had much more success The android tab and my phone both mirror fine. It looks like what was happening was that they were both trying to hook up to my home wifi and that's what was interfering. This won't be an issue away from home I also updated iOS and defaulted the android tab(wiped data and started from scratch) and deleted any other wifi connections and that seems to help. Next step wiring it into the car

Proof of concept has been achieved.
Test wiring went really well and I'm pleased to say that i have device mirroring in my car for less than $100 AUD I had a look at the back of the CIC and couldn't determine which wires i needed to hijack. I turned my attention to the TV module in the boot. Theres one plug it has three video wires Video+White Video-Yellow Shield clear I released the wiring clip from the connector and unpinned the wires from the TV unit plug. I stripped the RCA connector off the wire and connected the white wire from the TV unit to the yellow wire (centre pin) from the RCA. I plugged the Wifi player into the power adaptor in the rear as well and just used a usb power adaptor for power turned the car on and BAM! working ! Problem - First The MOST audio loop is currently broken because the plug is out of the tv unit. I can plug it back in but regardless i need to do something about audio... perhaps analogue audio to MOST adaptor?? Not cheap but doable Second the video scaling isn't the best, when an iPhone or computer does it it automatically scales the best it can to fit the screen. I played with some resolution settings but didn't fill the screen so well..

ok so - what you need to know is this... there are three sets of analogue video/audio inputs on the CIC. They are called FBAS1/2/3
The car has a shielded video cable our composite video is unshielded you can tie a third wire between the chassis of the device and the CIC to nullify any ground loop noise or use twin core shielded cable(preferred but not necassary) You'd need to have a look which FBAS your AUX is on look for AUX 1 in your CIC code. Then connect accordingly. This is the instruction from someone else on another forum "I think you can wire WD TV to FBAS 1, FBAS 2, or FBAS 3, whichever is available, and then code HU_CIC => AUX1 = wert_21, wert_22, or wert_23 accordingly. The Pinout on back of CIC is: FBAS 1 = wert_21: - FBAS+, PIN 2 - FBAS-, PIN 12 - FBAS shield, PIN 11 FBAS 2 = wert_22: - FBAS+, PIN 3 - FBAS-, PIN 10 - FBAS shield, PIN 9 FBAS 3 = wert_23: - FBAS+, PIN 5 - FBAS-, PIN 8 - FBAS shield, PIN 7 Ill post a pinout diagram of the back of the CIC in just a sec

Thats Video
For audio the feed from aux goes to COMBOX and the pins are as follows (or you can simply get an dual RCA to 3.5mm plug adaptor and plug it directly in.... Right Audio + 5 Right Audio - 23 Left Audio + 4 Left Audio - 23

You likely already have media wiring between the aux in/snap in adaptor in the console though.
If you do, all you need is a CVBS to 3.5mm adaptor and youre working!

airplay is no better than factory 6NF integration because video is analog
korean lvds overlay boxes with airplay can provide better quality
